Herbal raw material:

nettle root (radix urticae dioicae) 100%

Composition

Nettles contain: acetophenone, acetylcholine, agglutinin, alkaloids, numerous organic acids (including butyric, caffeic, formic, succinic, acetic, oxalic and phosphoric acids), chlorophyll, choline, folate, histamine and flavonoids, sterols and terpenes. In addition, nettle root is rich in sterols, fatty acids, lectin, polysaccharides and silica, tannins and ceramides. It contains numerous vitamins (A, C, E and K) and minerals, mainly calcium, magnesium and iron.

Properties

Nettle root is straw-colored when dried. It has a pleasant, warm, slightly sweet scent.

Action

Nettle root is primarily a strong diuretic. It has a diuretic effect, accelerating the excretion of excess water from the body, and along with urine, removes unnecessary, toxic metabolites that accumulate in the body’s cells. It generally cleanses the body while providing complete supplementation with vitamins and microelements, which strengthens immunity and ensures full vitality. It has a particularly beneficial effect on the health of mature men, protecting them from the negative effects of andropause and the consequences of testosterone deficiency, especially potential prostate hyperplasia, erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia or the accumulation of excessive amounts of adipose tissue. At the same time, nettle root extracts relieve the heart and circulatory system in obese people, reducing the risk of heart attack and/or stroke. They protect against the development of coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis. Due to their rich composition, they supplement any deficiencies of elements, stimulate blood-forming processes and improve the condition and appearance of the skin, hair and nails.

Use of nettle root in herbal medicine:

Nettle root for the prostate

The active substances present in nettle root, especially lectin, bring clear relief to men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (stage I and II). Regularly consumed extracts from the plant are helpful in treating urination disorders caused by prostatic hyperplasia, facilitate emptying of the bladder, strengthen the urine stream and relieve pain accompanying micturition. They inhibit the action of enzymes (aromatase and reductase) involved in the breakdown of testosterone – the male sex hormone, the deficiency of which is responsible for prostate hyperplasia. Nettle root extracts are also recommended by natural medicine as an aid in the treatment of prostate cancer and to alleviate the unpleasant effects of andropause.

Nettle root for swelling

Nettle root, like the herb of this plant, is a strong diuretic. It increases urine production (so-called diuresis) and causes increased excretion of water from the body. In this way, it helps reduce swelling and puffiness and reduces the accompanying pain symptoms. It relieves the heart and improves the functioning of the entire circulatory system, as well as reduces susceptibility to hypertension. Its diuretic effect is particularly useful in the treatment of local (e.g. limbs) and general swelling, as it restores proper body proportions and joint mobility. In addition, by removing (rinsing out with urine) toxins deposited in the tissues, it strengthens the body by restoring its proper microbiological balance.

Nettle root for anemia

Active substances present in nettle rhizome have a generally beneficial effect on the circulatory system and blood-forming processes occurring in the body. On the one hand, they stimulate the production of hemoglobin, improving the transport of oxygen in the body (i.e. improving the level of tissue oxygenation), on the other – they prevent platelets from sticking together, thus preventing the formation of clots responsible for the occurrence of, among others, ischemic strokes and heart attacks. They are particularly helpful in the treatment of anemia and the effects of anorexia, as well as in the process of convalescence after long illnesses and exhausting surgical procedures. Thanks to the wealth of vitamins and minerals, they strengthen the entire body and reduce the risk of seasonal infections (including colds and flu).

Nettle root for hair, skin and nails

Similarly to nettle leaves, the root, due to its high silicon content, has a beneficial effect on the condition of hair, nails and skin. Nettle root extracts used internally and externally (e.g. in the form of rubs and rinses) strengthen hair bulbs and nail roots, harden hair and nail plate, prevent them from breaking and splitting ends. At the same time, they stimulate collagen production, having a beneficial effect on the condition and appearance of the skin, which becomes smooth and elastic. Due to its antihistamine properties, nettle root extracts alleviate the symptoms of skin allergies, such as itching, rash, eczema and redness. As shown by the latest scientific research, nettle root seems to help in the fight against lupus – a dangerous, multi-organ autoimmune disease.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of nettle extracts include kidney diseases with severe kidney failure and advanced diabetes.

Interactions – Adverse reactions – Side effects

The recommended dosage should be strictly followed, as consuming excessive amounts of nettle extract may lead to dehydration of the body and, as a further consequence, to a deficiency of minerals necessary for the proper functioning of tissues due to their increased excretion in the urine.
