What is Gaviscon and how does it work?
Gaviscon Mint Flavour TAB is a non-prescription medicine in the form of chewable tablets intended for the treatment of the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux in adults, including pregnant women.
The medicine reacts immediately with hydrochloric acid in the stomach, creating a layer of alginate gel, a protective barrier over the irritating stomach contents, preventing them from flowing back into the esophagus. Thanks to this, Gaviscon effectively combats symptoms of reflux such as: heartburn, indigestion, burning in the esophagus and belching. Heartburn may appear after meals (mainly fatty and spicy) or during pregnancy, or in patients with symptoms of inflammation of the esophageal wall (e.g. difficulty and/or difficulty swallowing, pain in the mouth, vomiting).
Gaviscon provides fast relief and relieves the discomfort of gastroesophageal reflux.
