Theraflu Extra Grip, 14 sachets

Theraflu ExtraGRIP is a non-prescription medicine in the form of sachets with powder to dissolve in water, containing ingredients used in the symptomatic treatment of flu and colds. The medicine contains paracetamol, which has an analgesic and antipyretic effect, phenylephrine hydrochloride, which reduces nasal congestion and swelling, and pheniramine maleate, an antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching or nasal and sinus congestion.

Indications for use

Treatment of flu and cold symptoms such as: fever, chills, muscle pain, musculoskeletal pain, headaches, swelling and congestion of the nasal mucosa, excessive nasal discharge, sneezing.

• The active substances are: paracetamol 650 mg, phenylephrine hydrochloride 10 mg, pheniramine maleate 20 mg.
• The medicine also contains: sucrose, acesulfame potassium, quinoline yellow (E 104), sunset yellow, maltodextrin M100, colloidal hydrated silica, natural lemon flavours, anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate dihydrate, calcium phosphate.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended dose
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: dissolve the contents of one sachet in 1 glass of hot, but not boiling, water. Drink after cooling to the appropriate temperature. The contents of 1 sachet can be taken at one time. If further symptomatic treatment is necessary, this dose can be repeated after 4-6 hours. Do not use more than 3-4 sachets in 24 hours. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after 5 days or if fever persists for more than 3 days. If you feel that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak, contact your doctor.

Use in children
Do not use in children under 12 years of age.

Patients with liver disease
In the case of adults weighing less than 50 kg, people with mild or moderate liver failure, Gilbert’s syndrome (familial hyperbilirubinemia), dehydrated, chronically malnourished, people with alcoholism, the daily effective dose of paracetamol should not exceed 60 mg/kg/day (up to 2 g/day, i.e. a maximum of 3 sachets per day).

Patients with renal failure
For patients with renal failure, the content of one sachet should be taken at one time. The intervals between doses should be:

If you take more Theraflu ExtraGRIP than you should
If you take more Theraflu ExtraGRIP than you should, contact your doctor immediately, even if you have no symptoms, as life-threatening liver damage may occur.

If you miss a dose of Theraflu ExtraGRIP
Theraflu ExtraGRIP is used on an as-needed basis when symptoms occur. However, if your doctor tells you to take the medicine regularly, do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Do not use Theraflu ExtraGRIP if:

• hypersensitivity (allergy) to paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride and pheniramine maleate or other ingredients of this medicine,
• if you are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs, medicines used to treat depression or Parkinson’s disease) in the last 14 days; if you do not know whether the medicines you are taking with your doctor’s prescription contain MAOIs, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine described in the leaflet,
• if you have severe heart disease or very high blood pressure (hypertension),
• if you have hyperthyroidism,
• if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (an eye disease with progressive damage to the optic nerve and at least partly related to increased pressure inside the eyeball),
• if you have a pheochromocytoma (a tumor located near the kidneys that causes increased blood pressure),
• if you are taking tricyclic antidepressants,
• if you are taking beta-blocker medicines (medicines used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease),
• if you are taking orally administered sympathomimetic drugs such as intranasal decongestants, appetite suppressants or amphetamine-like psychostimulants, etc.
• pregnancy and breastfeeding,
• in children under 12 years of age.
