Indications
Succus Echinaceae Phytopharm is a drug in the form of an oral liquid containing juice from the fresh herb of purple coneflower (Ecchinacea purpurea), stabilized with ethanol. Traditionally, the preparation is used as a support in colds. It can also be administered prophylactically for a short time to reduce susceptibility to colds during periods of increased illness.
Juice from fresh purple coneflower herb – properties:
It is believed that the drug Succus Echinaceae Phytopharm stimulates the body’s immune system response non-specifically, thereby increasing resistance to bacterial and viral infections. In laboratory studies, purple coneflower juice stimulates the activity of immune system cells that recognize and destroy pathogens.
Succus Echinaceae Phytopharm is a traditionally used herbal medicinal product. Its effectiveness is based solely on long-term use and experience. P
Indications:
- Supportive in case of colds.
- For short-term prophylactic use to reduce susceptibility to infections during periods of increased disease incidence.
Composition:
100 ml of liquid contains:
- active substance: juice from fresh purple coneflower herb, stabilized with ethanol (Echinaceae purpureae herbae recentis succus (1:1)),
- extraction solvent: ethanol 96% (V/V), water.
The ethanol content in the medicinal product is 20-30% (V/V). The product does not contain any excipients.
Action:
The drug Succus Echinaceae Phytopharm non-specifically stimulates the body’s immune system response and increases resistance to bacterial and viral infections.
Dosage:
Unless your doctor recommends otherwise:
- Adults: 2.5 ml of liquid 3-4 times a day. 3 – 4 times a day, 2.5 ml each time,
- Adolescents from 12 years of age: 1 ml 3 times a day.
- The preparation should be taken daily for 10 days. Repeating the treatment should be consulted with a doctor.
- It is best to start treatment when the first cold symptoms appear.
Contraindications:
- Allergies to plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae family.
- Progressive systemic diseases (e.g. tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, collagenoses, multiple sclerosis), HIV infection and other autoimmune and autoaggressive diseases.
- Allergic diseases, e.g. hives, atopic dermatitis, asthma.
- Do not use:in oncology in the case of cytostatic therapy,
in people after bone marrow or other organ transplantation,
in disorders of the hematological system concerning white blood cells, e.g. agranulocytosis, leukemia).
in children under 12 years of age.
Side effects:
- Succus Echinaceae Phytopharm, like all medicines, can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- Cases of hypersensitivity to echinacea preparations may occur, characterized by rash, urticaria, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, angioedema of the skin, Quincke’s edema, bronchospasm with obstruction, asthma and anaphylaxis.
- The drug may cause allergic reactions in people with atopy.
- An association with autoimmune diseases has been found (multiple sclerosis, erythema nodosum, immunothrombocytopenia, Evans syndrome, Sjögren’s syndrome with renal tubular insufficiency).
- With long-term use (over 8 weeks) leukopenia may occur.
Interactions:
Do not use concomitantly with immunosuppressive drugs such as cyclosporine and methotrexate.
Warnings and precautions:
- Succus Echinaceae Phytopharm contains ethanol (a single dose of 2.5 ml contains approximately 0.58 g of ethanol, which is equivalent to approximately 6 ml of wine and approximately 15 ml of beer):the preparation may cause harmful effects in people addicted to alcohol,
The ethanol content in the preparation should be taken into account when treating pregnant or breastfeeding women and children, as well as high-risk individuals such as patients with liver damage or epilepsy.
- If symptoms worsen or if you experience high fever, shortness of breath, or other worrying symptoms, contact your doctor.
- In patients with atopy, allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility:
- Due to the fact that the safety of using the drug during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied, the use of echinacea juice during this period is not recommended.
- The effect of the drug on fertility has not been established.
Driving and operating machinery:
- There are no data on the effect on driving and operating machinery.
- After using the preparation, alcohol can be detected by breath alcohol measuring devices.
- Do not drive immediately after taking the preparation (it is recommended to take a break of at least half an hour).
