Pyralgina 500 mg, 20 tablets

Pyralgina is a drug whose active substance is metamizole – a strong analgesic and antipyretic substance belonging to non-opioid analgesics, a derivative of pyrazolone. The drug also has a relaxing effect on smooth muscles. Pyralgina is used primarily in the treatment of severe pain and fever, when the use of other agents is contraindicated or insufficient. A clear effect can be expected within 30 to 60 minutes of oral administration.

Pyralgina 500 mg is a drug available without a prescription, the drug in this dose can be used by adults and adolescents over 15 years of age (with a body weight over 53 kg). When using Pyralgina, remember that you can administer a maximum of 1000 mg of metamizole at once (2 tablets) no more than 4 times a day at intervals of 6-8 hours.

Severe pain of various origins and fever.

The active substance of the drug is metamizole sodium monohydrate. 1 tablet contains 500 mg of metamizole sodium monohydrate.

Other ingredients are: potato starch, gelatin, magnesium stearate.

Recommended dose

Adults

The dosage depends on the intensity of pain or fever and the individual sensitivity of the patient to metamizole. The lowest effective dose should always be used .

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years or over (body weight exceeding 53 kg) may be administered a maximum of 1000 mg of metamizole in a single dose (2 tablets) no more than 4 times daily at intervals of 6–8 hours.

The maximum daily dose is 4000 mg (equivalent to 8 tablets).

A noticeable effect can be expected within 30 to 60 minutes of oral administration.

The tablets are taken with a sufficient amount of fluid (e.g. a glass of water).

The medicine should be taken during or immediately after meals.

Do not use the medicine for longer than 3-5 days without consulting a doctor or see a doctor immediately if symptoms worsen despite taking the medicine.

Pyralgina should not be used in children under 15 years of age. Other forms and strengths of this medicine are available for younger children; ask your doctor or pharmacist.

• Hypersensitivity to metamizole, other pyrazolone and pyrazolidine derivatives or to any of the excipients of the drug.
• Third trimester of pregnancy.
• Acute renal or hepatic failure, acute hepatic porphyria.
• Patients with diagnosed analgesic asthma syndrome or known intolerance to analgesics manifested by urticaria, angioedema, i.e. patients who react with bronchospasm or other anaphylactoid reactions to salicylates, paracetamol or other non-opioid analgesics, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac, ibuprofen, indomethacin or naproxen.
• Bone marrow dysfunction (e.g. after cytostatic treatment) and changes in the blood morphology (agranulocytosis, leukopenia, anemia).
• Congenital glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
• Use of drugs from the group of pyrazolone and pyrazolidine derivatives (e.g. phenylbutazone, propyphenazone).

The drug Pyralgina contains sodium

The medicine contains 1.5 mmol (34.5 mg) of sodium in one tablet, this should be taken into account in patients with reduced renal function and in patients controlling the sodium content in the diet.
