What is Polopiryna Throat?
Polopiryna Throat is a medicine containing flurbiprofen.
Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties in the treatment of sore throat. Polopiryna Throat TabletsThey work by changing the body’s response to pain, swelling and high temperature.
Indications for use of Polopiryna Throat
Short-term relief of symptoms of pharyngitis, such as irritation, pain and swelling of the throat and difficulty swallowing in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Active substance: Flurbiprofenum
Composition of Polopiryna Throat lozenges
The active substance is flurbiprofen. One hard lozenge contains 8.75 mg of flurbiprofen.
The other ingredients are: isomalt (E 953), maltitol (E 965), cochineal red (E 124), sunset yellow (E 110), acesulfame potassium (E 950), macrogol 300 (E 1521), orange flavour (limonene (50.0%-100%), decanal (0.0%-10%), citral, citronellol (0.1%-1.0%)), levomenthol.
Dosage and use of Polopiryna Throat lozenges
The recommended dose is:
- Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 1 hard lozenge every 3 to 6 hours, as needed. Do not take more than 5 lozenges in 24 hours.
- This medicine should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
- The lozenge should be dissolved slowly in your mouth, do not swallow or chew the lozenge.
- Always move the lozenge around in your mouth while dissolving.
Polopiryna Gardło is intended for short-term use only. The smallest possible number of lozenges should be taken for the shortest time necessary to relieve symptoms. If irritation occurs in the oral cavity, discontinue use of flurbiprofen.

Contraindications to the use of Polopiryna Throat
- if you are allergic to flurbiprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you have ever had asthma, unexpected breathing sounds or difficulty breathing, a runny nose, swelling of the face or an itchy skin rash (hives) after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
- if you have or have had an ulcer in your stomach or intestines (two or more episodes of stomach or duodenal ulcers),
- if you have had bleeding or perforation of the digestive tract, severe inflammation of the large intestine or blood disorders related to previous treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
- if you are in the last three months of pregnancy (third trimester),
- if you have or have had severe heart, liver or kidney failure.
