Polopiryna Complex is a multi-component drug with combined action of ingredients.
- Acetylsalicylic acid combines antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
- Phenylephrine reduces congestion and swelling of the mucous membranes, thereby unblocking the nasal passages and inhibiting the sneezing and tearing reflex.
- Chlorphenamine relieves the symptoms of rhinitis (runny nose and sneezing).
Buffering substances contained in the drug enable rapid and complete dissolution of Polopiryna Complex in water, thanks to which it is easily absorbed and well tolerated.
Indications
The drug is recommended for use in the comprehensive treatment of cold and flu symptoms, such as:
- fever;
- chills;
- sore throat;
- muscle and bone pain;
- headaches (including those caused by reduced patency of the paranasal sinuses due to swelling of the nasal mucosa and limited patency);
- swelling and congestion of the nasal mucosa;
- excessive nasal discharge;
- sneezing;
- tearing from the eyes.

Composition
Active substance | The active substances of the drug are acetylsalicylic acid, phenylephrine hydrogen tartrate, chlorphenamine maleate.
Each sachet contains: 500 mg acetylsalicylic acid 15.58 mg phenylephrine bitartrate 2 mg chlorphenamine maleate. |
Other ingredients | colloidal anhydrous silica, sucrose, sodium saccharin, sodium cyclamate, anhydrous citric acid, orange flavour. |
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults, adolescents aged 16 years and over
- 1 sachet every 6-8 hours as needed.
- Do not exceed the dose of 4 sachets (2 g acetylsalicylic acid, 32 mg phenylephrine and 8 mg chlorphenamine) per day.
- Dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass of hot water, stir and drink.
This medicine should not be given to children and adolescents under 16 years of age.

Contraindications
When not to use Polopiryna Complex
- if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, phenylephrine hydrogen tartrate, chlorphenamine maleate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid occurs in 0.3% of the population, including 20% of patients with bronchial asthma or chronic urticaria. Hypersensitivity symptoms: urticaria and even shock may occur within 3 hours of taking acetylsalicylic acid.
- if the patient is allergic (hypersensitive) to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, with symptoms such as: bronchospasm, hay fever, shock.
- if you have bronchial asthma, chronic respiratory diseases, hay fever or swelling of the nasal mucosa, because patients with these conditions may respond to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with asthma attacks, localized swelling of the skin and mucous membranes (angioedema) or hives more often than other patients.
- if you have an active stomach and/or duodenum ulcer and inflammation or bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal bleeding or activation of ulcer disease may occur).
- if you have severe liver, kidney or heart failure.
- if you have blood clotting disorders (e.g. haemophilia, thrombocytopenia) and if you are treated concomitantly with anticoagulants (e.g. coumarin derivatives, heparin).
- if you have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (a rare inherited disease).
- if the patient is concomitantly receiving methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or more, due to harmful effects on the bone marrow.
- in children and adolescents under 16 years of age, especially in the course of viral infections, due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome, a rare but serious disease that causes damage to the liver and brain.
- if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
- if the patient has cardiovascular disease, hypertension.
- if you have diabetes.
- if you have closed-angle glaucoma.
- if you have hyperthyroidism.
- if you have an enlarged prostate.
- if you have a pheochromocytoma of the adrenal gland.
- if you are taking monoamine oxygenase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping treatment with an MAOI.
Contents: 12 sachets. The medicine is a powder for oral solution with orange flavour packed in sachets.
