Otrivin Regeneration, (1 mg + 50 mg)/ml, nasal spray, 10 ml

Otrivin Regeneration nasal spray contains the active substance xylometazoline hydrochloride, which has a vasoconstrictor effect and reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa.

Otrivin Regeneration nasal spray also contains the active substance dexpanthenol, which is a derivative of the vitamin – pantothenic acid. Otrivin nasal spray supports wound healing and protects the nasal mucosa.

Otrivin Regeneration nasal spray is intended for use in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age:

• to reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa in rhinitis, as well as a treatment supporting the healing of wounds of the skin and mucous membrane, to relieve vasomotor rhinitis and to treat difficult nasal breathing after nasal surgery,
• to reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa in rhinitis associated with acute rhinosinusitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa and sinuses).

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

How to use

Otrivin Regeneration is intended for nasal use.

• Remove the protective cap from the applicator tip.
• Before first administration, press the pump several times to release a mist of medication into the air.

  There is no need to repeat this step for subsequent drug administrations.

  The pump will be ready for continued use throughout the recommended use period.

  However, if no medication is released after pressing the pump or if the product is not used for several days, then the medication should be re-primed by pressing the pump twice.

  Be careful not to spray the medication into your eyes.

• Clear your nose.
• The bottle should be held upright with your thumb on the bottom of the bottle and the tip held between two fingers.
• Tilt your head forward slightly and place the tip into your nostril.
• Press the pump and at the same time gently inhale air through the nose. Repeat the procedure when administering the medicine into the other nostril.
• Immediately after use, wipe the applicator tip and put on the cap.
• To avoid the spread of infection, the aerosol container should be used by one person only.

Dosage In adults and adolescents, unless otherwise directed by a physician, one spray of Otrivin Regeneration should be applied to each nostril, up to 3 times daily, as needed. The dosage depends on individual sensitivity and clinical response. Do not apply more than 3 times daily to each nostril.

Duration of treatment Otrivin Regeneration should not be used for longer than 7 days, unless your doctor clearly recommends longer use.

Continued use of this medication can lead to chronic swelling and ultimately loss of the nasal mucosa.

Long-term use (longer than ten consecutive days) and its use in doses higher than recommended should be avoided, especially in children, because it may cause nasal congestion and, consequently, narrowing of the airways. Continued use of the drug may lead to secondary drug-induced edema and atrophy of the nasal mucosa.

The concentration of active substances in Otrivin Regeneration has been selected for use in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age, therefore the medicine should not be used in infants or children under 12 years of age.

For children aged 1 to 11 years, appropriate medications are available in the form of a nasal spray, containing a lower dose of the active substance that reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa – xylometazoline hydrochloride.

When not to use Otrivin Regeneration

• if you are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride or dexpanthenol, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
• if you have dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa, including with the formation of crusts (dry or atrophic rhinitis),
• if you have had surgery performed through the nose, e.g. removal of the pituitary gland or any other surgical procedure exposing the meninges,
• if you have increased eye pressure, especially narrow-angle glaucoma,
• in infants and children under 12 years of age.
