Otrivin Allergy (2.5 mg + 0.25 mg)/ml, nasal spray, solution, 15 ml

Otrivin Allergy nasal spray contains two active substances:

• phenylephrine – reduces nasal congestion.
• dimethindene maleate – inhibiting the action of histamine responsible for allergic reactions.

The active substances of Otrivin Allergy facilitate the cleansing of the nasal passages and reduce excessive secretion (runny nose), without disturbing the function of the cilia of the nasal epithelium.

Otrivin Allergy nasal spray quickly and lastingly reduces nasal congestion. It clears the nose, making breathing easier.

The medicine is intended for use on the nasal mucosa.

Treatment of cold symptoms, nasal congestion, acute and chronic rhinitis, seasonal (hay fever) and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis.

Supportive in acute and chronic sinusitis and otitis media. Pre- and postoperative care in nasal surgery.

The active substances of the drug are phenylephrine and dimethindene maleate. One ml of solution contains 2.5 mg of phenylephrine and 0.25 mg of dimethindene maleate. One dose contains 0.3536 mg of phenylephrine and 0.0354 mg of dimethindene maleate.

The other ingredients of the drug are: benzalkonium chloride, sodium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous, citric acid monohydrate, sorbitol, deterpenated lavender oil, purified water.

A dual-action allergy preparation, i.e. it immediately eliminates the symptoms of allergic rhinitis and at the same time inhibits the secretion of histamine responsible for allergic reactions for up to 6 hours.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Otrivin Allergy should be used only in the nose (also in otitis media). Otrivin Allergy should be used after thorough cleaning of the nose. For hygienic reasons, the drug package should be used by only one patient.

Adults and children over 12 years of age:

1 to 2 doses in each nostril 3 to 4 times daily: the last dose should be taken shortly before bedtime. Otrivin Allergy should not be used for longer than 7 consecutive days. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

Method of administration:

• Remove the protective cap.
• Before first use, press the pump several times until the dispenser works. The aerosol prepared in this way is ready for use.
• Place the nozzle into the nostril, press the pump firmly, and then remove it from the nostril without releasing the pressure. Proper spraying occurs when performed with a small inhale through the nose.
• After use, replace the protective cap.

A bottle containing 10 or 15 ml of the drug is equipped with a pump that doses a specific content of active substances in a single dose, which eliminates the likelihood of accidental overdose.

• Otrivin Allergy should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
• In children aged 6 to 12 years, Otrivin Allergy should be used under adult supervision, 1 to 2 doses in each nostril, 3 to 4 times a day.

• if you are allergic to phenylephrine, dimethindene maleate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
• if you have atrophic rhinitis (chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa with crusting),
• if you are currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (medicines used for depression, among other things) or have taken these medications in the last 14 days. If you are not sure whether the medicines you are taking belong to the monoamine oxidase inhibitor group, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Otrivin Allergy,
• if you have narrow-angle glaucoma,
• in children under 6 years of age.
