Ketonal Active is used for short-term, symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain of various origins:
- muscular,
- osteoarticular,
- headache.
Composition
The active substance of the drug is: ketoprofen (Ketoprofenum).
One capsule contains 50 mg of ketoprofen.
Excipients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica. Capsule: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171), patent blue (E 131).
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The drug is for oral administration. It should be taken for the shortest possible time and in the lowest effective dose to reduce the risk of side effects.
Usual dose:
Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age – 1 capsule up to 3 times a day (every 8 hours).
The capsules should be taken during meals, with at least half a glass of water or milk.
- You can take antacids at the same time to reduce the risk of the drug having a harmful effect on the gastrointestinal tract.
- Do not use this medicine for more than 5 days without consulting your doctor. If your symptoms get worse or do not subside after 5 days, contact your doctor.
- Caution is necessary in the elderly due to the increased risk of severe adverse reactions. If it is necessary to take NSAIDs, the lowest effective dose should be used.
Contraindications
When not to take Ketonal Active:
- if you are allergic to ketoprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you have previously had shortness of breath, an asthma attack, swelling of the nasal mucosa or a skin reaction (symptoms include skin swelling or itchy rash) or any other type of allergic reaction after taking ketoprofen or similarly acting medicines (such as acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so-called NSAIDs),
- if you have:severe heart failure,severe renal failure,
severe liver failure,
tendency to bleed,
active gastric and/or duodenal ulcer or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation,
- if you are in the third trimester of pregnancy.
