Ketokaps Max 50 mg is a painkiller in the form of soft capsules, containing the active substance – ketoprofen . It belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects . Its mechanism of action is probably based on the inhibition of prostaglandins. The drug is intended for adults and adolescents over 15 years of age.
Indications
Ketokaps Max 50 mg is used:
- in the symptomatic treatment of acute pain of various origins, including: muscle pain, bone and joint pain, headache, toothache and painful menstruation;
- mild to moderate pain.
Composition
1 tablet contains:
- active substance: ketoprofen 50 mg,
- excipients: macrogol 400, potassium hydroxide 50%, purified water,
- capsule shell: gelatin, liquid sorbitol – partially dehydrated, cochineal red (E 124), purified water.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age: recommended dose 1 capsule up to 3 times a day, every 6 to 8 hours.
- Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 3 capsules (150 mg).
- Ketokaps Max 50 mg is administered orally. Swallow the capsule whole, without chewing. Drink at least half a glass of water.
- Take with a meal.
- The medicine should be taken for the shortest possible time and in the lowest effective dose necessary to relieve symptoms. If symptoms such as fever and pain persist or worsen during the infection, consult a doctor immediately.
- In some patients, it may be advisable to take drugs that neutralize or protect the gastric mucosa in order to reduce the harmful effects of ketoprofen on the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications
- Allergy to ketoprofen or any of the other ingredients of Ketokaps Max.
- If you have previously experienced shortness of breath, an asthma attack, swelling of the nasal mucosa or a skin reaction (symptoms include swelling of the skin or itchy rash) or any other type of allergic reaction after taking ketoprofen or similarly acting medicines (such as acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)).
- Third (III) trimester of pregnancy.
- Active gastric and/or duodenal ulcer, or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation.
- Severe heart, liver or kidney failure.
- Hemorrhagic diathesis (tendency to bleed).
- Do not use in children under 15 years of age.
