Description

Ibuprofen – the active substance of the drug Iburapid 400 mg belongs to the group of drugs – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), with therapeutic effects: anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic.

Indications

Iburapid is used in the following cases:

  • pain of various origins of mild to moderate intensity (headaches, including tension headaches and migraines, toothaches, neuralgia, muscle, joint and bone pain, pain associated with flu and colds),
  • fever of various origins (including influenza, colds or other infectious diseases),
  • painful menstruation.

Active substance: Ibuprofen

Composition

Active substance The active substance is ibuprofen (Ibuprofenum) – 400 mg.
Other ingredients Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, povidone K30, talc, dimethicone, colloidal anhydrous silica.

Tablet coating: talc, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, cochineal red (E 124), azorubine (E 122), dimethicone.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The occurrence of side effects may be minimized by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms.

 

Adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and over) weighing 40 kg or more:

The initial dose of ibuprofen is 400 mg (1 tablet). If necessary, an additional dose of 400 mg ibuprofen (1 tablet) can be taken. The interval between subsequent doses should be determined according to the symptoms and taking into account the maximum recommended daily dose. It should not be shorter than 6 hours. A total dose of 1200 mg ibuprofen (3 tablets) should not be exceeded within 24 hours.

The dosage for migraine headache is 400 mg (1 tablet) as a single dose, and if necessary 400 mg (1 tablet) every 4-6 hours. The maximum daily dose of ibuprofen should not exceed 1200 mg (3 tablets). Taking the drug should be limited to a maximum of two or three days a week.

 

Method of administration

  • Oral administration.
  • The tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
  • In people with gastrointestinal problems, it is recommended to take Iburapid during meals.

 

The medicine should not be used in patients weighing less than 40 kg.

This medicine should not be used in patients under 12 years of age.

 

Patients over 65 years of age

If you are elderly, you should always consult your doctor before taking Iburapid, because of the greater likelihood of side effects. Your doctor will advise you on the appropriate use of the medicine.

 

Liver and kidney dysfunction

If you suffer from reduced kidney or liver function, always consult your doctor before using Iburapid. Your doctor will advise you on the appropriate use of the medicine.

Contraindications

When not to use Iburapid

  • if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • if you are allergic to NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid or other substances; have had aspirin-sensitive asthma, angioedema (a disease of the skin and mucous membranes characterized by the occurrence of swelling), bronchospasm, rhinitis (runny nose) or urticaria related to the use of acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs,
  • if you have severe renal and/or hepatic impairment,
  • in case of stomach and/or duodenal ulcer (active or in history), perforation or bleeding, also after the use of NSAIDs,
  • in severe heart failure (NYHA class IV),
  • if you have severe high blood pressure,
  • if you have cerebrovascular bleeding or other active bleeding,
  • if you have unexplained disorders of the blood-forming system,
  • if you have severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhea or insufficient hydration),
  • in case of haemorrhagic diathesis (tendency to bleed e.g. in the skin and mucous membranes, nose, digestive system) and taking anticoagulant drugs,
  • in case of simultaneous administration of other NSAIDs, including COX-2 inhibitors,
  • in the last three months of pregnancy,
  • in adolescents weighing less than 40 kg and children.

Notes on use

Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it may intensify the side effects of Iburapid, especially those affecting the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system.
