Ibuprofen Aurovitas – characteristics
Ibuprofen Aurovitas is used to treat mild to moderate pain.
When is Ibuprofen Aurovitas used?
Ibuprofen Aurovitas is used to treat pain such as headache, including migraine headache, toothache, muscle pain, bruising and post-traumatic pain and pain associated with flu-like conditions. It is also indicated for period pain (primary dysmenorrhea) and for the treatment of fever lasting less than 3 days.
If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 5 days in adults, or after 3 days in children, you should consult a doctor.
Active substance: Ibuprofen
Composition of the drug Ibuprofen Aurovitas
- The active substance is ibuprofen. Each coated tablet contains 200 mg of ibuprofen.
- The other ingredients are: Tablet core: corn starch, pregelatinized corn starch, colloidal anhydrous silica, croscarmellose sodium, talc, stearic acid. Tablet coating: talc (E 553b), polyvinyl alcohol, macrogol 3350 (E 1521), titanium dioxide (E 171).
How to use Ibuprofen Aurovitas?
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
You should use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary to relieve your symptoms. In case of infection, contact your doctor immediately if symptoms (such as fever and pain) persist or worsen.
For short-term use only.
The dose of ibuprofen depends on the age and weight of the patient. The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents weighing ≥ 40 kg (aged 12 years and older):
For oral and short-term use only. The dose of ibuprofen depends on the age and weight of the patient. In adults and adolescents, the maximum single daily dose of 400 mg of ibuprofen should not be exceeded.
More than 400 mg at a time does not provide better pain relief. Leave at least 4 hours between doses.
The total dose should not exceed 1200 mg ibuprofen in 24 hours.
The patient should consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after 5 days in case of pain and after 3 days in case of fever.
The initial dose is 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen. If necessary, additional doses of 1 or 2 equivalent tablets (200 mg to 400 mg ibuprofen) may be taken up to 3 times daily at intervals of 4 to 6 hours.

If adolescents need this medication for more than 3 days, or if symptoms become severe, a doctor should be consulted.
Elderly people
There is no need to change the dose in elderly patients, unless there is renal or hepatic impairment, in which case the dose must be individualized. In this group of patients, caution should be exercised when adjusting the dose.
Renal dysfunction
No dose reduction is necessary in patients with mild or moderate renal impairment.
Liver dysfunction
No dose reduction is necessary in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment.
Method of administration
Oral administration.
The tablets should be swallowed whole with plenty of water or other liquid and should not be chewed, broken, crushed or sucked to avoid discomfort or irritation of the throat.
Ibuprofen Aurovitas for children and adolescents
Ibuprofen Aurovitas should not be given to children under 12 years of age without a doctor’s recommendation. You should look for other medicines that are more suitable for children.
When not to use Ibuprofen Aurovitas?
- if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- if you have had an allergic reaction such as asthma, runny nose, itchy skin rash or swelling of your lips, face, tongue or throat after taking medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid (such as aspirin) or other pain relieving and anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs).
- if you have had bleeding or perforation of the gastrointestinal tract, related to previous use of painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
- if you have an ulcer or bleeding from your stomach or small intestine (duodenum), or if you have had two or more such episodes in the past.
- if you have severe liver, kidney or heart disease.
- if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy.
- if you have severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhea or insufficient fluid intake).
- if you have active bleeding (including in the brain).
- if you have a condition of unknown origin that causes abnormal formation of blood cells.
Ibuprofen Aurovitas is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.
