Ibufen for children Forte strawberry flavor, 100 ml

The medicine is intended for use in children, adolescents and adults in the following cases:

• fever of various origins (also in the course of viral infections);
• pain of various origins of mild to moderate intensity (including earache occurring in inflammation of the middle ear).

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine should be taken orally. A syringe dispenser is included in the package. 

1. Unscrew the bottle cap (press down and turn counterclockwise).
2. Press the dispenser firmly into the hole in the neck of the bottle.
3. Shake the bottle vigorously.
4. To fill the dispenser, turn the bottle upside down and then carefully push the dispenser plunger downwards, drawing the suspension to the desired point on the graduation. 
5. Turn the bottle upside down and carefully unscrew the dispenser to remove it from the bottle. 
6. Place the tip of the dispenser in the child’s mouth and then slowly press the plunger to carefully empty the contents of the dispenser.
7. After use, close the bottle by screwing on the cap and wash and dry the dispenser.

When determining the dose of ibuprofen, the patient’s body weight (BW) and age should be taken into account. The usual single dose of ibuprofen is 7 to 10 mg/kg BW, up to a maximum daily dose of 30 mg/kg BW, divided into 3 to 4 single doses. The minimum interval between subsequent doses is 6 hours. A syringe dispenser is included in the package for accurate dosing. The bottle should be shaken before use. The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.

• 5-7.6 kg (3-6 months) 1.25 ml (1 × 50 mg) 3 times (150 mg)
• 7.7-9 kg (6-12 months) 1.25 ml (1 × 50 mg) 3 to 4 times (150-200 mg)
• 10-15 kg (1-3 years) 2.5 ml (1 × 100 mg) 3 times (300 mg)
• 16-20 kg (4-6 years) 3.75 ml (1 × 150 mg) 3 times (450 mg)
• 21-29 kg (7-9 years) 5 ml (1 × 200 mg) 3 times (600 mg)
• 30-40 kg (10-12 years) 7.5 ml (1 × 300 mg) 3 times (900 mg)
• Over 40 kg (children and adolescents from 12 years and adults) 5-10 ml (200-400 mg) 3 times (1200 mg)

For children aged 3-5 months, seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or if they do not improve after 24 hours.

In the case of children over 6 months of age, a doctor should be consulted if the drug is required for more than 3 days or if symptoms become severe. The drug is intended for short-term use. The drug should not be used in infants weighing less than 5 kg.

In patients with mild and moderate renal and/or hepatic impairment, there is no need to reduce the dose of Ibufen for children Forte with strawberry flavor. In elderly patients, dose adjustment is not required.

The medicinal product is contraindicated in children weighing less than 10 kg (up to 1 year of age) because the dose of the medicinal product is inappropriate due to the higher content of ibuprofen.

Do not use Ibufen for children Forte with strawberry flavor:

• if you are allergic to ibuprofen, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
• if you have had allergic reactions in the past, such as runny nose (rhinitis), angioedema, urticaria, bronchospasm, bronchial asthma after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), 
• if you have or have ever had a stomach or duodenal ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, 
• if you have had bleeding or perforation of the gastrointestinal tract, related to previous NSAID treatment, 
• if you have severe liver, kidney or heart failure, 
• if you have cerebrovascular bleeding or other active bleeding, 
• if the patient has a bleeding disorder, 
• if you have unexplained blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia, 
• if you have severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhea or insufficient fluid intake), 
• during the last three months of pregnancy,
• Do not give to infants weighing less than 5 kg.

Ibufen for children Forte with strawberry flavour contains liquid maltitol (E965), sodium.

If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product. This medicinal product contains 1.89 mg of sodium in 1 ml (9.44 mg in 5 ml), which should be taken into consideration by patients with reduced kidney function and patients on a controlled sodium diet.
