KRKA FYPRYST 134 mg spot-on solution for dogs 10-20 kg against ticks and fleas
Fipronil is an insecticide/acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole group. It destroys arthropods by interacting with chloride channel ligands, especially those regulated by the neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA). In this way, it blocks the pre- and postsynaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes, resulting in uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and death of insects or mites. The product Fypryst spot-on solution contains the active substance fipronil, which has a unique mechanism of action against fleas and ticks. It accumulates in the fatty structure of the skin and hair follicles, from where it is gradually secreted onto the surface of the skin and fur, which ensures long-term effect of the product.
The product is effective against fleas for 2 months and against ticks for 4 weeks depending on the level of environmental pressure. Fleas are killed within 24 hours of infestation.

Special precautions for use in animals
Ticks should be removed from the animal before using the product to reduce the risk of disease transmission. It is very important to apply the product in a place where the animal cannot lick it off and to prevent treated animals from licking themselves. Due to the lack of data on the efficacy of the product after bathing/shampooing the animal, the animal should not be bathed for 2 days after treatment and more than once a week. An emollient shampoo can be used before application of the product, but weekly use after treatment reduces the duration of protection against fleas to approximately 5 weeks. During a 6-week observation period, it was shown that weekly bathing with a medicated shampoo containing 2% chlorhexidine had no effect on the efficacy of the product against fleas. It is recommended that dogs do not swim in reservoirs and watercourses for 2 days after treatment. After treatment, single ticks may remain embedded, therefore the risk of transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely excluded in unfavourable conditions. It is assumed that ticks will be killed and fall off the host within 24 to 48 hours after infestation, due to the lack of access to its blood as food. The attachment of single ticks after application of the product cannot be excluded. Fleas carried by pets often live in bedding, sleeping and resting areas such as carpets and soft upholstery, which in the case of massive infestation and at the beginning of preventive treatments should be treated with appropriate insecticides and regularly vacuumed. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals The product may cause irritation of the mucous membranes and eyes. The mouth and eyes should be protected from contact with the product. People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or alcohol should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Direct contact of the contents of the pipette with the fingers should be avoided and if such contact occurs, hands should be washed with soap and water. In the event of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse them with clean water. Hands should be washed after application of the product. Avoid touching treated animals and do not allow children to play with them until the application site has dried. It is therefore recommended to administer the product to the animal in the evening. Animals should not sleep with owners, especially children, shortly after treatment. Do not smoke, drink or eat while administering the product.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay.
The safety of the veterinary medicinal product has been tested in breeding and pregnant bitches and in lactating bitches, which were given a dose three times higher than the recommended dose. Fypryst spot-on solution can be administered to breeding and pregnant bitches and in lactating bitches
Dosage:
One single-dose pipette containing 0.67 ml of spot-on solution for a dog weighing 2 to 10 kg.
This will deliver the minimum recommended dose of 6.7 mg/kg fipronil. Due to the lack of adequate safety studies, the minimum treatment interval is 4 weeks. Monthly treatment is recommended in cases of high risk of recurrent flea infestations, if the dog is allergic to flea bites, and in cases where tick control is required or the dog is bathed frequently using hypoallergenic or emollient shampoos. In areas where there is no significant risk of flea and tick infestations, Fypryst spot-on solution can be administered every other or third month.
Route of administration:
For external use, on the skin (by spotting).
Method of administration:
- Remove the single-dose pipette from the packaging.
- Holding the pipette in an upright position, unscrew and remove the tip. Turn the tip over and place the other end on the pipette. Press and twist the tip to pierce the seal, then remove it from the pipette.
- Part the animal’s fur on its back between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible.
- Place the tip of the pipette against the skin and squeeze several times to express its contents directly onto the skin.
- The product is effective against fleas for 2 months and against ticks for 4 weeks depending on the level of environmental pressure. Fleas are killed within 24 hours of infestation.
