Flegamax, 50 mg/ml contains carbocisteine as an active substance , which affects the composition of bronchial secretions.
Carbocisteine causes the secretion to be less viscous and more fluid , which makes it easier to remove from the respiratory tract during coughing (so-called mucolytic effect).
Indications
Flegamax 50 mg/ml is used in the symptomatic treatment of respiratory diseases associated with excessive production of thick and sticky secretions.

Dosage
Dosage of Flegamax 50 mg/ml:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
Initially, a dose of 15 ml of the drug should be used 3 times a day, and then, after the mucolytic effect (thinning secretions) occurs, the dose should be reduced to 10 ml of the drug 3 times a day.
Children from 6 to 12 years of age:
5 ml of the drug 3 times a day.
- In children and adolescents the daily dose of carbocisteine cannot exceed 30 mg/kg body weight.
- It is recommended that the child take the dose of medication with water.
- Do not use this medicine for longer than 4 to 5 days without consulting your doctor.
- During treatment, you should drink increased amounts of fluids.
- Do not take this medicine before going to bed. The last dose should be taken no later than 4 hours before going to bed.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Flegamax is not intended for use in children under 6 years of age.
Children aged 6 to 12 years: 5 ml of the drug 3 times a day. In children and adolescents, the daily dose of carbocisteine cannot exceed 30 mg/kg b.w. It is recommended that the child wash down the dose of the drug with water.
Do not use the medicine for more than 4 to 5 days without a doctor’s recommendation. During treatment, you should drink more fluids. Do not use the medicine before going to bed. The last dose should be taken no later than 4 hours before going to bed.
Contraindications
Do not use Flegamax:
- if you are allergic to carbocisteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- in an asthmatic state,
- if you have an active stomach or duodenal ulcer,
- in children under 6 years of age.
Notes on use
Flegamax contains cochineal red (E 124), methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium
The drug may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
The medicine contains 7.6 to 8.1 mg of sodium (the main component of table salt) in each ml. This corresponds to 0.38 to 0.41% of the maximum recommended daily intake of sodium in the diet for adults.

Flegamax is a red, transparent solution. PET bottle closed with an aluminum cap, with an attached PP measuring cup with a capacity of 15 ml, in a cardboard box. The package contains 200 ml of oral solution.
