Indications
Adults and children and adolescents aged 6 years and older:
Cetirizine is indicated for the relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perennial rhinitis.
Cetirizine is indicated for the relief of symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Active substance: Cetirizine dihydrochloride
Composition
Tablet core:
lactose monohydrate, corn starch, pregelatinized corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate.
Coating:
hypromellose titanium dioxide (E 171) talc macrogol 6000 If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. If you are not sure, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
- Do not exceed the daily dose.
- The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water.
- The medicine can be taken regardless of meals.
The recommended dose is:
- Use in children and adolescents: The tablet can be divided into equal doses. –
- Adults and children 12 years of age and over: one tablet once daily. –
- Children aged 6 to 12 years: 5 mg (half a tablet) twice daily (half a tablet in the morning and half a tablet in the evening) or 10 mg (one tablet) once daily as directed by your doctor. –
- Children weighing less than 30 kg: 5 mg (half a tablet) once daily.
- This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age.
Patients with impaired liver or kidney function: the usual dose is 5 mg (half a tablet) once daily. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. Taking more Cetip than you should: If you accidentally take too many Cetip tablets, tell your doctor immediately or contact the nearest hospital casualty department, even if you have no symptoms. You may feel sleepy or dizzy, so you should not drive. Take this medicine with you in the original packaging so that the doctor can easily determine what it is. If you forget to take Cetip: If you forget to take a tablet, take it as soon as you remember, but wait at least 24 hours before taking the next tablet. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you stop taking Cetip: If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
Contraindications
When not to take Cetip:
- if you are allergic to cetirizine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you have severe kidney problems,
- if you have an intolerance to some sugars (hereditary galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption).
