What’s Cestal for?

Cestal Plus 50/144/200 mg

COMPOSITION:

Each tablet contains active substances:

• Praziquantel 50 mg
• Pyrantel 50 mg (equivalent to 144 mg pyrantel embonate)
• Fenbendazole 200 mg

Praziquantel is very rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the parasite body. Both in vivo and in vitro studies have shown that praziquantel causes severe damage to the parasite integument, leading to spasm and paralysis. There is an almost immediate tetanic contraction of the parasite musculature and rapid vacuolation of the syncytial tegument. This rapid spasm has been explained by changes in the flux of divalent cations, particularly calcium.

Pyrantel acts as a cholinergic agonist. Its mechanism of action is based on the stimulation of the parasite’s nicotinic cholinergic receptors, inducing spastic paralysis, which allows, through peristaltic movements, the expulsion of the parasite from the digestive system.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM:

• Tablet to crush and chew
• Yellowish – brownish, oval tablet with a score line. 
• The tablets can be divided into two equal parts.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

• Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients.

DOSAGE:

Small dogs:

• 2-5 kg ​​= 1/2 tablet
• 5-10 kg = 1 tablet

Medium dogs:

• 10-20 kg = 2 tablets
• 20-30 kg = 3 tablets

Large dogs:

• 30-40 kg = 4 tablets
• 40-50 kg = 5 tablets

ADMINISTRATION:

Oral administration. Tablets should be administered directly into the mouth or after mixing with food (a piece of meat, cheese, etc.)
