Description

The active substance of Allefin Allergy is levocetirizine dihydrochloride. Allefin Allergy is an antiallergic drug.

Indications

Allefin Allergy is used to treat symptoms associated with:

  • allergic rhinitis (including chronic allergic rhinitis);
  • hives.

Allefin Allergy in the form of film-coated tablets is indicated for use in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and older.
If after 3 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact your doctor.

Active substance: Levocetirizine dihydrochloride

Composition

The active substance is levocetirizine dihydrochloride. Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg levocetirizine dihydrochloride.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate and Opadry II White 85F18422 coating: polyvinyl alcohol, macrogol 3350, titanium dioxide (E 171), talc.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose for adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over is 1 tablet daily.
Dosage in special patient groups:
Renal and liver impairment
In patients with impaired kidney function, the dose may need to be reduced depending on the severity of the kidney disease, in children the dose should also be adjusted according to body weight; the dose will be determined by your doctor.
Patients with severe kidney impairment must not use Allefin Allergy.

Patients who only have liver problems should take the usual recommended dose.
Patients who have both liver and kidney problems may need a lower dose depending on the severity of their kidney disease, in children the dose should also be adjusted according to body weight; the dose will be determined by the doctor.
Elderly patients (65 years and over)
There is no need to adjust the dose in elderly patients if their kidney function is normal.

Use of the drug in children and adolescents

It is not recommended to administer Allefin Allergy film-coated tablets to children under 6 years of age, because it is not possible to adjust the dose appropriately with this form of the drug.

Contraindications

When not to use Allefin Allergy

  • if you are allergic to levocetirizine dihydrochloride, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, any other derivatives (substances with a similar structure) of piperazine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
  • if you have severe kidney problems (severe renal failure with creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min).
