FAQ, or frequently asked questions.
1. Which AdTab product is right for my cat?
To protect your cat over 8 weeks of age from fleas and ticks, choose the AdTab product that is right for your cat’s weight and, to ensure full effectiveness, give the tablet with food or within 30 minutes of feeding. When choosing the right strength for your cat, follow these guidelines:
- Cats weighing 0.5 kg to 2.5 kg: AbTab 12 mg lotilaner tablet
- Cats weighing over 2.0 kg up to 8.0 kg: AbTab 48 mg lotilaner tablet
2. How should AdTab for cats be administered?
AbTab for cats is quick and easy to use, making it a convenient way to provide your cat with year-round protection against fleas and ticks. To protect your pet against fleas and ticks, we recommend administering AbTab once a month.
- Step 1: Choose the AdTab product according to your cat’s weight
- Step 2: Remove the tablet from the package
- Step 3: Place the tablet in the food or give it to your pet in the palm of your hand
- Step 4: For full effectiveness, administer tablet during or within 30 minutes of feeding.
- Step 5: Use monthly
3. What does the AdTab for cats package contain?
Each pack of AdTab for cats contains one tablet. Each tablet protects against fleas and ticks for one month.
4. What active substance does AdTab contain?
AdTab contains an active ingredient called lotilaner. Lotilaner has an immediate and month-long killing effect on fleas and ticks.
5. Can AdTab cause side effects?
As with any medication, there is a possibility of side effects. For more information on side effects, please refer to the package leaflet. Any concerns about your cat’s health should always be reported to your veterinarian.
6. How to get rid of fleas from your home?
If your cat gets fleas, they can spread throughout your home. Flea eggs laid in your pet’s fur can remain in your home and give rise to larvae. The larvae develop into pupae, which then develop into adults that can feed on your pet. Flea eggs, larvae, and pupae can hide in carpets, floor coverings, bedding, and upholstered furniture throughout your home.
If, despite using AbTab tablets, you still find fleas in your pet’s fur, there is a chance that these are newly hatched individuals from your immediate environment. Naturally, within a month of administering AdTab tablets, the parasites that get onto the treated animal will die.
In the case of a flea infestation in your home, speed is key. Be sure to regularly wash your pet’s bedding and vacuum carpets and floors to eliminate fleas at any stage of development.
7. Can ticks still be present on the animal despite the use of the product?
There are several reasons why you may still find ticks in your pet’s fur. During a walk, ticks can get onto your cat’s fur, even if it is treated. The active ingredient in the medicine works on parasites after a bite, so ticks can attach themselves to the animal’s skin. Ticks may be visible on your pet’s skin, attached but dead. This is especially true in areas where these parasites are most common.
