What are ACC effervescent tablets?
ACC tablets are a mucolytic drug used for cough occurring in bronchitis associated with colds, containing the active substance acetylcysteine - a drug that primarily reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions and facilitates expectoration.
ACC has a secretolytic effect (liquefies secretions) and a secretomotor effect (facilitates expectoration of secretions from the respiratory tract). The drug can be used in adults and children over 6 years of age.
ACC – indications
ACC is indicated as a drug to thin respiratory tract secretions and facilitate expectoration in patients with bronchitis associated with the common cold.
Active substance: Acetylcysteine
What does ACC 200 mg contain?
The active substance of the drug is acetylcysteine. 1 effervescent tablet contains 200 mg of acetylcysteine.
The other ingredients of the drug are: citric acid, anhydrous, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, anhydrous, mannitol, lactose, anhydrous, ascorbic acid, sodium citrate, sodium saccharin, blackberry flavor “B”.
ACC Tablet Dosage
The following dosage is usually used:
Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age
- 1 effervescent tablet ACC two or three times daily (equivalent to 400 mg to 600 mg of acetylcysteine daily in 2 or 3 divided doses).
Children aged 6 to 14
- 1 effervescent tablet ACC twice daily (equivalent to 400 mg acetylcysteine daily in 2 divided doses).
- If it is necessary to administer 300 mg of acetylcysteine per day, ACC mini should be used.
ACC should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
Do not use ACC for more than 4 to 5 days without consulting your doctor.
How to administer ACC effervescent tablets:
The medicine should be taken after a meal. The tablet should be dissolved in half a glass of water and drunk immediately after dissolving.
The effervescent tablet should not be dissolved in solutions containing other medicines.
Do not use before going to bed because of the difficulty in expectorating thin secretions during sleep. The last dose of ACC should be taken no later than 4 hours before going to bed.
After dissolving the tablet, avoid prolonged contact of the prepared liquid with metals and rubber.
When not to use ACC?
- if you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- if you have an active stomach or duodenal ulcer;
- if you have an acute asthmatic condition (exacerbation of bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
- ACC should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
Contents: ACC are white, round tablets with a breakline on one side. The package contains 20 individually wrapped effervescent tablets.
