Acatar Care 0.5 mg/mL, nasal spray, 15 ml

Acatar Care contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride as an active substance, which narrows blood vessels. The administration of Acatar Care reduces swelling of the inflamed mucosa and inhibits excessive secretion, which facilitates free nasal breathing. Reducing nasal congestion also causes opening and widening of the sinus ducts and unblocks the auditory tubes. This facilitates the removal of secretions and cures the bacterial infection.

Compared to saline solution, Acatar Care shortens the average duration of acute rhinitis (nose congestion, runny nose, sneezing, feeling unwell) from 6 to 4 days.

Acatar Care is used for swelling of the mucous membranes occurring in acute rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, Eustachian tube inflammation, otitis media.
The effect of oxymetazoline lasts up to 12 hours. In studies, the onset of the drug’s action was observed after an average of 25 seconds.
Acatar Care contains hyaluronic acid in the form of sodium salt as an excipient, which protects and moisturizes the nasal mucosa.
Acatar Care does not contain preservatives.

The active substance is oxymetazoline hydrochloride. 1 mL of solution contains 0.5 mg of oxymetazoline hydrochloride. The other ingredients are: glycerol 85%, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hyaluronate, hydrochloric acid 25% (to adjust pH), sodium hydroxide (to adjust pH), water for injections. 1 dose of aerosol with a volume of 45 microliters contains 22.5 micrograms of oxymetazoline hydrochloride.

Acatar Care is intended for nasal administration only (also for inflammation of the Eustachian tube and inflammation of the middle ear).
The medicine package should only be used by one person.
Acatar Care can only be used in adults and children over 6 years of age.
Do not use this medicine in infants and children under 6 years of age.
Adults and children over 6 years of age:
1 dose of Acatar Care spray in each nostril 2 to 3 times a day.
This medicine should not be used for longer than 5 to 7 days.

• If you have dry rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa with the formation of crusts);
• if you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
• if you have had surgery performed through the nose, such as removal of the pituitary gland or surgery involving exposure of the dura mater (brain surgery performed through the nose or mouth).

Acatar Care may be used with special caution and only after careful consideration of the benefits and risks by the doctor in the case of:

• treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) and other drugs that may increase blood pressure;
• increased intraocular pressure, especially in closed-angle glaucoma;
• severe diseases of the heart and blood vessels (e.g. coronary heart disease, hypertension);
• pheochromocytoma of the adrenal gland;
• metabolic disorders (e.g. hyperthyroidism, diabetes).
