Loratan pro 10 mg, 10 softgels

Indications for use:

Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis and chronic
idiopathic urticaria.

• The active substance is loratadine. One capsule contains 10 mg of loratadine.
• Other ingredients (excipients) are: macrogol 400, glycerol, hydrochloric acid, purified water; capsule shell composition: gelatin, partially dehydrated liquid sorbitol, cochineal red (E 124), patent blue (E 131), purified water.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The medicine should be taken orally.

Loratan pro can be taken regardless of meals. The capsule should be swallowed whole.
The usual dose is:
Adults and children over 12 years of age – 1 capsule (10 mg) once daily.
Children from 6 to 12 years of age, weighing more than 30 kg – 1 capsule (10 mg) once daily.
It is not recommended to use capsules (10 mg) in children weighing less than 30 kg.

Loratadine treatment without medical advice should not exceed 10 days.

In patients with severe hepatic impairment, a lower initial dose should be used, because the clearance of loratadine in these patients may be reduced. In such cases, 10 mg of loratadine (1 capsule) should be administered every other day. Consult a doctor before using the drug. 

There is no need to change the dose in elderly patients and patients with renal failure.

Taking more Loratan pro than recommended
The main symptoms of an overdose are drowsiness, increased heart rate and headache.

In the event of an overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment should be started immediately and continued as long as necessary. Activated charcoal in an aqueous suspension may be administered. The doctor may perform gastric lavage. Loratadine cannot be eliminated from the body by hemodialysis. It is not known whether it can be eliminated by peritoneal dialysis.
Further observation of the patient is necessary after intensive treatment. If a higher dose than recommended has been taken, consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately.

If you forget to take Loratan pro
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

When not to use Loratan pro:

• if you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
• in pregnant women.
