Indications

Hederasal syrup   is a herbal medicine with a complex effect, the active substance of which is  a dry extract of ivy leaves  (Hederae helicis folia extractum siccum) with an expectorant and relaxing effect on smooth bronchial muscles. This ingredient  reduces the frequency of coughing attacks  and reduces the pain that accompanies them. By thinning the secretion accumulated in the throat, larynx and bronchi, it facilitates expectoration, while soothing the cough reflex and not blocking it.

Indications

A herbal medicine used as an expectorant in case of a wet cough accompanied by difficult expectoration of retained, thick sputum.

Composition

100 g (equivalent to 81 ml) of syrup contains:

• active substance: dry extract of ivy leaf (Hederae helicis folia extractum siccum, DER 4-8: 1) – 430.55 mg, extractant: ethanol 30% m/m.
• excipients: potassium sorbate, anise essential oil, propylene glycol, liquid non-crystallizing sorbitol 70%, purified water.

Dosage

Oral administration. A measuring cup is included in the package. The syrup should be taken undiluted, with water.

• Children aged 2 to 5 years:  2 to 3 times a day, using a 2.5 ml measuring cup or half a teaspoon.
• Children aged 6 to 11:  2 times a day, 5 ml measuring spoon or 1 teaspoon.
• Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:  3 to 4 times a day using a 5 ml measuring spoon or 1 teaspoon.

Advice for diabetics: the medicine does not contain sucrose. It can be used by people with diabetes. 1 teaspoon (5 ml corresponds to 6.2 g) of syrup contains 3.36 g of Dsorbitol, which corresponds to 0.28 bread units (BE).

Contraindications

• The medicine should not be used in patients who are allergic to the active substance, including plants of the Araliaceae family, or any of the excipients.
• The drug should not be used in children under 2 years of age due to the possibility of exacerbation of respiratory symptoms when taking expectorant drugs.
• The medicine is not intended for children under 2 years of age.
