What is Esberitox N and what does it contain?
Esberitox N is a herbal medicine containing extract of western arborvitae herb (Thujae occidentalis herba), purple coneflower root (Echinaceae purpureae radice) and wild indigo root (Baptisiae tinctoriae radice).
What are the indications for use of Esberitox N?
A herbal medicinal product used in the treatment of colds as a supporting agent, shortening the duration of infection and alleviating its course.
Active substance: Baptisiae tinctoriae radix , Echinaceae purpureae radix , Thujae occidentalis herba
Composition of Esberitox N
1 tablet contains:
- 0.215 ml of alcohol-water extract (1:11) corresponding to:
- Baptisiae tinctoriae radice 10 mg
- Echinaceae purpureae radice 7.5 mg
- Thujae occidentalis herba 2 mg
- extractant: ethanol 30% (v/v)
- Excipients: lactose, magnesium thearate, macrogol 6000, sucrose.
How to dose Esberitox N?
Dosage
Adults: 3 tablets 3 times a day.
Data on use in children are limited, therefore special caution should be exercised when using it.
Method of administration
Esberitox N should be taken in the morning, midday and evening with fluid, preferably water.
When administering to people who have difficulty swallowing, especially children under 6 years of age, it is recommended to crush the tablet, mix it with water and then give the resulting suspension to the patient. It is also possible to suck the tablets.
Treatment should be started as soon as possible after the symptoms appear and continued until they disappear, but no longer than 10 days.
Esberitox N in children and adolescents
It is not recommended to use products containing echinacea in children under 12 years of age. Although the product contains echinacea, taking into account the own data for this product, it is allowed to use it in children under 12 years of age, however, special caution should be exercised.
Dosage
- Adolescents over 12 years of age: 3 tablets 3 times a day.
- Children from 6 to 12 years: 2 tablets 3 times a day.
- Children from 4 to 6 years old: 1 tablet 3 times a day.
What are the contraindications to the use of Esberitox N?
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance, any of the excipients or plants of the Compositae/Asteraceae family, e.g. chamomile, arnica.
- There are fundamental reasons not to use the drug in the case of progressive systemic diseases such as tuberculosis, leukemia, AIDS, HIV infection, collagenosis, multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases.
- Do not use in case of immunosuppression (e.g. in case of oncological drug therapy, after organ or bone marrow transplantation).
- Do not use in children under 4 years of age.
