Coldrex Complex Grip is a drug in the form of capsules intended for the short-term relief of symptoms of flu and cold, such as headache, rhinitis, sore throat, chills and fever, as well as facilitating expectoration in productive cough.

Coldrex Complex Grip contains active substances such as:

• paracetamol, with analgesic effect,
• guaifenesin, which is an expectorant that helps thin out secretions,
• Phenylephrine hydrochloride, which reduces swelling of the nasal passages to make breathing easier.

Coldrex Complex Grip is intended for use by adults, elderly patients and adolescents over 16 years of age.

Indications

Coldrex Complex Grip is used to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu.

Composition

1 capsule contains:

• active substances: paracetamol (500 mg), guaifenesin (100 mg) and phenylephrine hydrochloride (6.1 mg, equivalent to 5 mg phenylephrine),
• the other ingredients are: corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate, talc; gelatin capsule: gelatin, sodium lauryl sulfate, quinoline yellow (E104), indigo carmine (E132), erythrosine (E127), titanium dioxide (E171), purified water.

Action

Analgesic for pain: headache and throat, antipyretic, facilitating expectoration, reducing swelling of the nasal passages.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

• Adults and adolescents aged 16 years and over weighing more than 50 kg: 2 capsules every 4 to 6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 3 doses in 24 hours.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• Do not take more than 6 capsules (3 g paracetamol) in 24 hours.

Do not take more than 4 capsules per day in the following situations unless your doctor tells you to:

• chronic alcoholism,
• dehydration,
• malnutrition.

Use in elderly patients and people with liver or kidney disease

• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you are elderly or have kidney or liver disease as you may need a lower dose or longer intervals between doses.

Contraindications

Do not use this medicine if you:

• is allergic to paracetamol, guaifenesin, phenylephrine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
• are taking antidepressants called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as moclobemide, phenelzine, isocarboxazid, and trancylpromine, or have taken them in the last 14 days,
• has high blood pressure (hypertension),
• has heart or blood vessel disease (cardiovascular disorders),
• has an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism),
• has diabetes,
• has a rare adrenal tumor (pheochromocytoma),
• are taking tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine and amitriptyline,
• are taking beta-blockers or other medications to treat high blood pressure,
• has closed-angle glaucoma (high pressure inside the eyes),
• has severe liver failure,
• she is pregnant,
• are taking other vasoconstrictor medications containing sympathomimetic amines (e.g. phenylephrine).
