What is Zidenac?

Zidenac is a gel for application to the skin. Zidenac contains the active substance dimethindene maleate, which inhibits the action of histamine. Histamine is a substance released by the body upon contact with an allergen and causes the development of an allergic reaction.

Zidenac has a local anti-allergic effect and relieves itching. It has local anesthetic properties.

When is Zidenac used?

Zidenac is used for the short-term relief of itching associated with skin diseases, hives, insect bites, sunburn and superficial skin burns (first degree – skin redness).

What does Zidenac consist of?

The active substance of the drug is dimethindene maleate. Each gram of gel contains 1 mg of dimethindene maleate.

  • The other ingredients are: purified water, propylene glycol (E 1520), carbomer (type 974 P), sodium hydroxide, disodium edetate dihydrate, benzalkonium chloride.

How to use Zidenac?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Zidenac, unless your doctor tells you otherwise, should be used up to 3 times a day, applying a thin layer of gel to the affected and itchy skin area. Do not press or scratch the skin surface during use.

The medicine should be applied to intact skin, not to open wounds. If after 7 days (2 days in children) there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact your doctor.

The medicine should not be used for longer than 7 days without consulting a doctor.

When should you not use Zidenac?

  •  if you are allergic to dimethindene maleate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
