What is Tantum Verde and how does it work?
Tantum Verde mint flavour contains the active substance benzydamine, which belongs to indole non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for local and systemic use.
Benzydamine is characterized by anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and has a local anesthetic and disinfectant effect. The drug is well absorbed locally, achieving high concentrations in tissues affected by the inflammatory process. The drug is generally well tolerated and is suitable for local treatment of symptoms of inflammation.
When is Tantum Verde used?
Medicine for sucking. The medicine is used to treat ailments and symptoms (pain, redness, swelling) associated with inflammation of the mouth and throat.
If after 3 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact your doctor.
Active substance: Benzydamine hydrochloride
What does Tantum Verde contain?
The active substance of the drug is benzydamine hydrochloride. One hard lozenge contains 3 mg of benzydamine hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are: isomalt (E 953), levomenthol, aspartame (E 951), citric acid monohydrate, mint flavour composition PHL-008468 [contains, among others, benzyl alcohol (E 1519), citronellol, d-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, linalool], lemon flavour composition PHL-008469 [contains, among others, butylhydroxyanisole (E 320), benzyl alcohol (E 1519), citral, citronellol, d-limonene, geraniol, linalool], quinoline yellow (E 104), indigo carmine (E 132).
How to use Tantum Verde?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Recommended dosage: 1 lozenge 3 times a day. The lozenge should be sucked slowly. Do not swallow or chew. Do not use more than the recommended dose. Continuous treatment should not exceed 7 days.
Use in children and adolescents
Due to its pharmaceutical form, the drug should not be used in children under 6 years of age. In children aged 6 to 11 years, the drug should be used under adult supervision.

When should you not use Tantum Verde?
- if you are allergic to benzydamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- in patients with phenylketonuria, because the drug contains aspartame, a source of phenylalanine
