Indications
Strepsils Intensive is indicated for the short-term symptomatic treatment of sore throat in adults and children from 12 years of age.
Composition
- The active substance is flurbiprofen (Flurbiprofenum).
- 1 lozenge contains 8.75 mg of flurbiprofen.
- Excipients: macrogol 300, potassium hydroxide, lemon flavor, levomenthol, glucose syrup, sucrose syrup, honey.
Dosage
- Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- Strepsils Intensive lozenges should be taken orally. When sucking slowly, the position of the lozenge in the mouth should be changed to avoid local irritation.
- The usual dosage for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 1 lozenge every 3 to 6 hours as needed. The maximum daily dose is 5 lozenges. Do not use for longer than 3 days without consulting a doctor.
Contraindications
When not to use Strepsils Intensive:
- if you are allergic to flurbiprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
- in patients with existing or previous gastric and/or duodenal ulcer, with severe colitis;
- in patients who have ever had allergy symptoms such as runny nose, angioedema, difficulty breathing (bronchial asthma), rash after taking acetylsalicylic acid or any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug;
- in patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, bleeding disorders or blood formation disorders related to previous NSAID therapy;
- in patients taking other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time (including cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors such as celecoxib);
- in patients in the third trimester of pregnancy;
- in patients with severe heart, liver or kidney failure.
