What is Xylometazoline and how does it work?
Xylom etazolin WZF 0.1% is a drug in the form of nasal drops , containing the active substance xylometazoline hydrochloride, belonging to the group of drugs called sympathomimetics.
Xylometazoline WZF 0.1% applied to the nasal mucosa reduces its swelling and congestion, reduces the amount of secretion and facilitates its outflow from the sinuses. Thanks to this, it reduces the feeling of a blocked nose and sinuses.
Xylometazoline – indications
Xylometazoline WZF 0.1% is used:
- in acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa caused by viruses or bacteria,
- in acute or chronic exacerbating inflammation of the paranasal sinuses,
- in allergic rhinitis,
- in acute otitis media (to unblock the Eustachian tube located in the ear).

What does Xylometazoline contain?
1 ml of solution contains:

How to use Xylometazoline?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Use the medicine only in the nose (also in cases of otitis media).
For hygienic reasons, the drug package should only be used by one patient.
The medicine should not be used for longer than 3 to 5 days. If after 3 to 5 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact your doctor.
Do not use doses higher than those given below.
Adults and children over 12 years of age:
2 to 3 drops in each nostril every 8 to 10 hours.
Do not administer more than 3 doses into each nostril per day.
When should you not use Xylometazoline?
When not to use Xylometazoline WZF 0.1%
- If you are allergic (symptoms such as rash, swelling of the face and throat, shortness of breath) to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you have had your pituitary gland removed or other surgery on the nervous system.
- If the patient has been diagnosed with lesions or changes in the nasal mucosa.
Notes on use
The drug Xylometazolin WZF 0.1% contains benzalkonium chloride.
The drug may cause irritation of the nasal mucosa.
Contents: Polyethylene bottle with dropper and tamper-evident cap, containing 10 ml of solution, in a cardboard box.
