What is Xylometazoline WZF?
Xylometazoline WZF 0.05% is a drug in the form of nasal drops, containing the active substance xylometazoline hydrochloride , belonging to the group of drugs called sympathomimetics. Xylometazoline WZF 0.05% applied to the nasal mucosa reduces its swelling and congestion , reduces the amount of secretion and facilitates its outflow from the sinuses. Thanks to this, it reduces the feeling of a blocked nose and sinuses.
Xylometazoline WZF indications
Ancillary treatment:
- acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa of viral or bacterial origin;
- acute or chronic exacerbation of paranasal sinusitis;
- allergic rhinitis;
- acute otitis media – to unblock the Eustachian tube.
- Xylometazoline WZF 0.05% is indicated for use in children aged 2 to 12 years.
Active substance: Xylometazoline hydrochloride
Composition
Active substance: 1 ml of solution contains 0.5 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride (Xylometazolini hydrochloridum). 1 drop contains 0.025 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride. Other ingredients: benzalkonium chloride, solution
How to dose Xylometazoline WZF?
Children aged 2 to 12:
- 1 to 2 drops in each nostril once or twice daily, every 8 to 10 hours.
- Do not administer more than 3 doses into each nostril per day.
- Xylometazolin WZF 0.05% should not be used for longer than 3 to 5 days.
- For hygienic reasons, the drug package should only be used by one patient.
Xylometazoline WZF contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any of the excipients.
- Do not use in patients who have had pituitary gland removal or other surgical procedures involving exposure of the dura mater.
- Atrophic rhinitis.
