Solpadeine 500 mg + 8 mg + 30 mg, 12 tablets

Solpadeine contains 3 active substances: paracetamol , codeine and caffeine . Its therapeutic effect is the result of the combined action of the active substances. Solpadeine tablets are intended for use in the treatment of, among others, headache, migraine, painful menstruation or toothache.

• Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic effects. It inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis by inhibiting arachidonic acid cyclooxygenase in the central nervous system.
• Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, intensifying the analgesic effect of paracetamol.
• Codeine has analgesic and antitussive effects. Codeine belongs to a group of drugs called opioid analgesics, which relieve pain. It can be used alone or in combination with other painkillers, such as paracetamol.

Solpadeine – duration of action of the drug

The onset of action of the drug occurs within 30 to 60 minutes after taking it, and the total duration of action is up to 4 hours.

Headaches, migraine, painful menstruation, toothache, neuralgia, rheumatic pain, sore throat, flu and cold symptoms, fever.

Due to the codeine content, Solpadeine can be used in adolescents aged 12 years and over for the short-term relief of moderate pain that does not respond to treatment with other painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen used alone.

The medicine should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible period. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose or the specified number of doses. Do not use more than the recommended dose.

The medicine should not be taken for longer than 3 days. If the pain does not subside after 3 days, consult a doctor.

Do not use other medicines containing paracetamol, codeine or caffeine at the same time.

Solpadeine – recommended doses

Adults:
Oral, 1-2 tablets, up to 4 times daily. Do not take a dose more often than every 4-6 hours or take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.

Adolescents aged 16–18 years:
Take 1–2 tablets every 6 hours to a maximum daily dose of 8 tablets (4000 mg paracetamol, 64 mg codeine and 240 mg caffeine).

Adolescents aged 12-15 years:
Take 1 tablet every 6 hours up to a maximum daily dose of 4 tablets (2000 mg paracetamol, 32 mg codeine and 120 mg caffeine).

Children under 12 years of age:
Solpadeine, due to codeine, should not be used in children under 12 years of age due to the risk of opioid toxicity associated with the variable and unpredictable metabolism of codeine to morphine.

Solpadeine is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age for the symptomatic treatment of the common cold due to the risk of severe respiratory disorders.

• in people with hypersensitivity (allergic) to paracetamol, caffeine, codeine, other opioid painkillers or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
• in people with alcoholism,
• in people with severe liver or kidney failure,
• in people with respiratory failure and depression,
• in people with bronchial asthma,
• in people taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) – drugs used for depression and for up to 2 weeks after discontinuing them,
• in people suffering from chronic constipation,
• in children under 12 years of age,
• to relieve pain in children and adolescents (aged 0 to 18 years) after removal of palatine or pharyngeal tonsils due to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome,
• in a patient who metabolizes codeine very quickly to morphine,
• in pregnant and breastfeeding women,
• in patients addicted to opioids.

Adolescents over 12 years of age: Solpadeine is not recommended for use in adolescents with respiratory disorders for the treatment of colds.
