Pyrantelum OWIX 0.25 g, 3 tablets

Pyrantelum OWIX 0.25 is an antiparasitic drug that acts on roundworms in the gastrointestinal tract.

Pyrantelum paralyzes the muscles of parasites by activating nicotinic receptors. It also inhibits cholinesterase. Blocking the neuromuscular transmission of parasites leads to their paralysis, which facilitates their removal from the digestive tract without additional use of laxatives.

The product works on both mature parasites and parasites in the early stages of development, but does not work on larvae during their migration in tissues.

Pyrantelum is effective against the following roundworms:

• Enterobius vermicularis,
• Ascaris lumbricoides,
• Ancylostoma doudenale,
• Necator americanus,
• Trichostrongylus orientalis
• Trichostrongylus colubriformis.

• Ascariasis caused by Ascaris lumbricoides
• Enterobiasis caused by Enterobius vermicularis
• Invasion of the duodenum by hookworms Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus.

The active substance of the drug is pyrantel. Each tablet contains 250 mg of pyrantel in the form of pyrantel pamoate.

The other ingredients of the drug are: potato starch, povidone, colloidal anhydrous silica, ethylcellulose, magnesium stearate, orange flavor.

Dosage
The dose should be repeated two or three weeks after the first dose. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Parasitological control tests should be performed 14 days after the end of treatment.
If symptoms persist after the second dose, contact your doctor.
Due to its pharmaceutical form, Pyrantelum Owix, 250 mg, tablets is not intended for use in children under 6 years of age.
A medicine containing pyrantel in the form of an oral suspension is also available on the market, intended for use in young children.

Patients with liver problems
Patients with liver problems should consult a doctor before taking the medicine. The doctor may recommend a lower dose, as the medicine may adversely affect the liver.
Method of administration
The medicine is taken orally during or after a meal with water.
Before swallowing, the tablet should be chewed or crushed very carefully.
