What is Nurofen Forte and how does it work?
Nurofen Forte is a medicine that contains 400 mg of ibuprofen , which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Nurofen Forte tablets relieve symptoms such as fever, pain and swelling by acting at the site of their occurrence.
Nurofen Forte is intended for occasional use. Your doctor may prescribe the medicine for other conditions (including some chronic diseases). In such cases, follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.
- Effective in case of acute pain.
- It works on pain of various origins of mild to moderate intensity.
- Eliminates fever of various origins.
- For use over 12 years of age.
Indications for use of Nurofen Forte
Pain of various origins of mild to moderate intensity:
- headaches, e.g. migraine,
- pain in the sacrum area,
- toothache, e.g. after tooth extraction,
- neuralgia,
- muscle and joint pain,
- painful menstruation.
Fever associated with flu and colds.
Active substance: Ibuprofen
Composition of Nurofen Forte tablets
The active substance is ibuprofen – 1 coated tablet contains 400 mg of ibuprofen.
Excipients are:
- tablet core: croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium citrate, stearic acid, colloidal anhydrous silica;
- sugar coating: carmellose sodium, talc, spray-dried gum arabic, sucrose, titanium dioxide, Macrogol 6000;
- printing ink: Opacode S-1-15094 (shellac, red iron oxide (E 172), propylene glycol, simethicone).
Dosage and use of Nurofen Forte tablets
Before use, read the leaflet, which contains indications, contraindications, data on adverse effects and dosage, and information on the use of the medicinal product, or consult a doctor or pharmacist, as any drug used improperly may threaten your life or health.
- Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 tablet every 4 hours. Tablets should be taken with liquid.
- Do not use more than 3 tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen) in 24 hours.
- In case of liver or kidney failure, your doctor will determine the individual dosage.
- The medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
- The drug should be used orally, short-term.

Contraindications to the use of Nurofen Forte
Nurofen Forte should not be used in patients:
- with hypersensitivity (allergic) to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine and to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),
- who have ever had hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. urticaria, rhinitis, angioedema or bronchial asthma) after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),
- with active or previous gastric and/or duodenal ulcer or bleeding (two or more distinct episodes of proven ulceration or bleeding),
- with a history of perforation or bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract related to previous NSAID treatment,
- with severe hepatic failure, severe renal failure or severe heart failure,
- in the last trimester of pregnancy,
- with bleeding diathesis.
