Neosine forte syrup is an antiviral drug for children and adults who have respiratory infections . The preparation strengthens the body’s immunity and fights viruses.
Indications
- Infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by viruses: Herpes simplex type I or type II (herpes simplex) and Herpes varicella-zoster (chickenpox, shingles).
- Other infections of viral etiology (e.g. subacute sclerosing panencephalitis).
- Supportively in people with reduced immunity, in case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
Active substance: Inosinum pranobexum
Composition
1 ml of syrup contains: | 100 mg inosine pranobex |
5 ml of syrup contains: | 500 mg inosine pranobex |
Excipients with known effect: sucrose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate |
Dosage
The dose is determined based on the patient’s body weight and depends on the severity of the disease. The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses administered several times a day. The duration of treatment is usually 5 to 14 days. After the symptoms have subsided, the drug should be continued for another 1 to 2 days.
Adults, including the elderly (over 65 years of age):
The recommended daily dose is 50 mg/kg body weight/day (0.5 ml per 1 kg body weight per day), usually 3 g (i.e. 30 ml of syrup per day), given in 3 or 4 divided doses. The maximum dose is 4 g per day.
Note for all age groups:
In severe infections (e.g. subacute sclerosing panencephalitis in the acute phase of the disease) the dose may be increased to 100 mg/kg body weight/day in divided doses administered every 4 hours.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Contraindications
The medicinal product should not be used:
- in patients with hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients;
- in patients who are currently experiencing a gout attack or increased levels of uric acid in the blood.
