Neosine forte is an antiviral drug that increases the body’s immunity (stimulates the activity of the immune system).
Indications
– Infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by viruses: Herpes simplex type I or type II (herpes simplex) and Herpes varicella-zoster (chickenpox, shingles).
– Other infections of viral etiology (e.g. subacute sclerosing panencephalitis).
– Supportively in people with reduced immunity , in case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
Active substance: Inosinum pranobexum
Composition
1 tablet contains 1000 mg of inosine pranobex (Inosinum pranobexum) : a complex containing inosine and 2-hydroxypropyldimethylammonium 4-acetamidobenzoate in a molar ratio of 1:3.
Excipients with known effect: wheat starch.

Action
Neosine forte contains an active substance – inosine pranobex, which inhibits the multiplication of pathogenic Herpes viruses.
Dosage
Oral administration.
The dose is determined based on the patient’s body weight and depends on the severity of the disease. The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses administered several times a day. The duration of treatment is usually 5 to 14 days. After the symptoms have subsided, the drug should be continued for another 1 to 2 days.
Adults, including the elderly (over 65 years old)
The recommended daily dose is 50 mg/kg body weight (usually 1 g, i.e. 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily). The maximum dose is 4 g daily.
Children over 1 year of age
The recommended dose is 50 mg per kg of body weight per day, given in several divided doses.
For children who cannot swallow tablets, it is recommended to administer Neosine forte in syrup.
In children and adolescents with reduced immunity
The medicinal product should be used 10 days a month for 3 consecutive months.
Note for all age groups
In severe infections (e.g. subacute sclerosing panencephalitis in the acute phase of the disease) the dose may be increased to 100 mg/kg body weight/day in divided doses administered every 4 hours.
Method of administration
The tablet should be taken with a large amount of liquid, preferably water. If you have difficulty swallowing the whole tablet, to make it easier to take the medicinal product, you can crush the tablet and dissolve it in a small amount of water.
Contraindications
The medicinal product should not be used:
– in patients with hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1;
– in patients who are currently experiencing a gout attack or increased levels of uric acid in the blood.
Notes on use

Contents: The medicine is in the form of tablets. The tablets are oblong, oval, biconvex, white, with a score line on one side. The score line only facilitates crushing for easier swallowing, not division into equal doses. The medicine is packaged in a cardboard box of 10 tablets.
