100% essential oil
Lime
10ml
Our lime oil comes from Mexico and is cold pressed from the peel of the lime fruit, also known as the sour lime (Citrus aurantifolia). Although we already have a lot of citrus oils in our offer, the characteristic, tropical scent of lime oil is irreplaceable! :)
Lime comes from Asia, most likely from the Malay Archipelago; it was brought to Europe by Arab traders, and then travelled with the Spanish to Central and South American countries, where it is now cultivated on a mass scale.
There are two types of lime oil available commercially: cold-pressed (like ours) and obtained by steam distillation. Cold-pressed citrus oils are preferred by aromatherapists, while distilled ones are most often used to flavor foods and beverages; lime oil is added to Coca-Cola, among other things. However, it should be remembered that pressed lime oil contains more coumarins than other citrus oils and is phototoxic to humans. After applying it to the skin, it should not be exposed to sunlight for the next 12 hours. In comparison, distilled oil contains no or very little photosensitizing compounds, making it safe for use in the sun.
Like other citrus oils, lime essential oil oxidizes quite quickly. It is a good idea to store it in a dark, cool place (preferably in the refrigerator) to extend its shelf life.

APPLICATION
- Inhaling lime oil uplifts the spirit and soothes anxiety. Inhaling heat is helpful during respiratory infections.
- Body massage with the addition of this oil has an anti-cellulite effect, refreshes the skin and relieves rheumatic pain.
- For room aromatization – disinfects the air, gives it a fresh and tropical aroma. It is worth diffusing when household members have a cold or flu.
- As an ingredient in natural perfumes (top note) and homemade cosmetics, e.g. as an astringent and skin cleansing agent in a clay-based mask. It is particularly effective for people with oily and problematic skin.
- A bath with lime oil soothes the nerves and cleanses the skin, and has anti-rheumatic effects.
- It is worth adding it to ecological cleaning products.
HOW TO USE
- Air scenting – add a few drops to the water in an ultrasonic diffuser and enjoy the refreshing scent of lime oil.
- Massage – add max. 7 drops to 30 ml of base oil (e.g. sweet almond) and mix. Store the massage oil prepared in this way in a dark glass, it will be enough for several treatments.
- Bath – dissolve 5-7 drops of oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil, then add to a water-filled bathtub. Immerse yourself in the water for at least 20 minutes. Do not use detergents (it is best to take a shower before bathing with oils).
- Hot anti-rheumatic compress – add a few drops of oil to a bowl of warm water, mix everything, then moisten a towel or cotton cloth in water and apply to the painful area. To enhance the effect, it is worth combining with e.g. coriander oil or rosemary oil.
- Inhalation – add 3 – 4 drops of oil to a bowl of hot water, inhale covered with a towel with your eyes closed.

lavender, geranium, cardamom, ginger, elemi, premium olibanum, nutmeg and other citrus oils (neroli, petitgrain, bergamot, orange, lemon, pink grapefruit).
WARNINGS
Breastfeeding and pregnant women should consult their doctor before use. For external use. The oil is phototoxic – after application to the skin, do not expose it to sunlight for the next 12 hours. Use diluted.
PLANT CHARACTERISTICS
Sour lime (Citrus aurantifolia) is an evergreen tree or shrub of the Rutaceae family, most likely native to the Malay Archipelago. It grows to about 5 m tall, and its branches are covered with sharp thorns. The leaves are fragrant, oval-elliptical, up to 9 cm long, and the flowers are yellow – also giving off a pleasant scent. The yellowish-green fruits of lime are round or ovoid berries, 3-5 cm in diameter; their flesh is fragrant, juicy and very sour.
