Momester Nasal 50 micrograms/dose, nasal spray, 120 doses

Momester Nasal contains mometasone furoate, which belongs to a group of drugs called corticosteroids. Mometasone furoate administered intranasally relieves symptoms of inflammation (swelling and irritation of the nasal mucosa), sneezing, itching and a feeling of nasal congestion and reduces the amount of nasal discharge.

Momester Nasal is used to treat the symptoms of doctor-diagnosed seasonal allergic rhinitis (also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis or hay fever) in adults aged 18 years and older.

Hay fever, which occurs at certain times of the year, is an allergic reaction caused by inhaling pollens from trees, grasses, weeds, and mold and fungus spores. Momester Nasal reduces swelling and irritation in the nasal mucosa and thus relieves sneezing, itching, nasal congestion or nasal discharge caused by seasonal allergic rhinitis.

The active substance is mometasone furoate. Each dose of the medicine contains mometasone furoate monohydrate equivalent to 50 micrograms of mometasone furoate.

The other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride, solution; glycerol; polysorbate 80; microcrystalline cellulose; carmellose sodium; citric acid monohydrate; sodium citrate; purified water.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not use a higher dose or use this medicine more often or for a longer period of time than recommended in the leaflet.

Recommended dose
Use in adults (aged 18 years and over, including the elderly)
The usual dose is two sprays into each nostril once daily.
Once your symptoms are controlled, reduce the dose to one spray into each nostril once daily. Do not exceed the recommended doses.
Some people experience relief from symptoms within 12 hours of taking the first dose of Momester Nasal. However, the full benefit of treatment may occur after the first two days of treatment.

You should contact your doctor if you do not feel better within 14 days. Do not use this medicine for longer than 3 months without consulting your doctor. Use in children and adolescents Momester Nasal should not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Preparing the nasal spray for use
Momester Nasal nasal spray has a cap on the bottle that protects the nozzle and prevents contamination.
Remember to remove it before using the spray and replace it after use.
Before taking the first dose, shake the bottle well and press the pump 10 times (to produce a uniform mist):

1. The bottle should be shaken gently.
2. Place your index and middle fingers on either side of the pump and your thumb on the bottom of the bottle. Do not pierce the nasal spray dispenser.
3. Point the nozzle away from you and press with your fingers to spray the aerosol 10 times until a uniform mist is obtained. If the aerosol has not been used for 14 days or more, press the pump 2 times before next use until a uniform mist is obtained.

How to use nasal spray

1. Shake the bottle gently and remove the cap.
2. Blow your nose gently.
3. Close one nostril and insert the tip of the dispenser into the other nostril.
4. Tilt your head slightly forward, holding the bottle vertically up.
5. Gently begin a slow inhale through your nose while spraying the spray (fine mist) into your nose by pressing down ONCE with your fingers.
6. Exhale through your mouth. Then repeat step 4 to administer a second spray into the same nostril, if needed.
7. Remove the dispenser tip from your nostril and exhale through your mouth.
8. Repeat steps 3-6 to administer the spray into the other nostril.

NOTE! It is very important to keep the bottle upright as improper spraying may cause damage to the nasal septum.

After using the spray, carefully wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue or cloth and replace the cap to prevent dust from entering.
Cleaning the bottle

• It is important to clean the spray bottle regularly, otherwise it may not function properly.
• Remove the cap and gently pull off the dispenser tip.
• Wash the dispenser tip and cap in warm water, then rinse under running water.
• Do not unclog the dispenser tip by piercing it with a needle or other sharp object, as this will damage the dispenser and the correct dose of medication will not be delivered.
• Leave the cap and dispenser tip in a warm place to dry.
• Place the dispenser tip on the bottle and then insert the cap.
• After cleaning, check that the dispenser is working properly and spray the aerosol twice.

Momester Nasal should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

• If you are allergic to mometasone furoate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you have an untreated nasal infection. Using Momester Nasal during an untreated infection in the nasal cavity, e.g. herpes, may worsen the symptoms of the infection. You should wait until the infection has healed before using the nasal spray.
• If you have recently had surgery on your nose or an injury to your nose. You should not use the nasal spray until the wounds have healed.

Momester Nasal is a nasal spray, suspension. The bottle contains one spray mechanism. 120 doses.
