Metafen Zatoki, 20 coated tablets

Metafen ZATOKI is a drug with a combined effect of the ingredients: ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine, in the form of tablets for oral use. Ibuprofen belongs to the group of drugs – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is a derivative of propionic acid with therapeutic effects: anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic.

Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic amine that reduces congestion of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract. When administered orally, it causes vasoconstriction, reduces swelling and congestion of the nasal mucosa and sinuses, thereby improving nasal permeability and drainage of sinus secretions.

Metafen ZATOKI is recommended for the symptomatic treatment of symptoms associated with sinus diseases, such as: fever, headache, sinus and nasal obstruction with pain and symptoms of congestion and swelling of the mucous membrane.

The active substances of the drug are ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride.

Each tablet contains 200 mg of ibuprofen and 30 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. 

The other ingredients are: povidone, pregelatinized starch, microcrystalline cellulose with colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium starch glycolate (type A), mannitol, magnesium stearate.

Oral administration.

The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary to relieve symptoms and limit side effects.

If infection symptoms (such as fever and pain) persist or worsen, consult your doctor immediately.

Recommended dose: Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age usually take: initial dose – 2 tablets, then if necessary 1 to 2 tablets every 4 hours during the day.

Maximum daily dose – 6 tablets.

People over 65 years of age: no dosage adjustment is necessary unless renal or hepatic function is impaired; then the dosage should be individually adjusted.

• If you are allergic to ibuprofen, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
• If you are allergic to NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid; have had aspirin-sensitive asthma, angioedema (a disease of the skin and mucous membranes characterized by the occurrence of swelling), bronchospasm, rhinitis or urticaria in connection with the administration of acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs.
• In case of severe renal and/or hepatic impairment.
• In case of stomach and/or duodenal ulcer (active or in history), perforation or bleeding, also after use of NSAIDs.
• In case of severe hypertension, glaucoma (an eye disease leading to deterioration or loss of vision), hyperthyroidism, prostatic hyperplasia, pheochromocytoma, nasal polyps.
• In case of severe cardiovascular disease, tachycardia, angina pectoris.
• In severe heart failure.
• If you have a history of hemorrhagic stroke or have risk factors that may increase the likelihood of hemorrhagic stroke, for example, taking vasoconstrictor drugs or other decongestants, whether administered orally or nasally.
• During pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• In the case of haemorrhagic diathesis (tendency to bleed, e.g. within the skin and mucous membranes, nose, digestive system) and taking anticoagulant drugs.
• In case of urinary retention.
• When taking other NSAIDs at the same time, including COX-2 inhibitors.
