Ketonal Active capsules contain the active substance ketoprofen , a drug with anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effects (belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs – NSAIDs).
Indications
Ketonal Active is used for short-term, symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain of various origins, e.g. muscle pain, bone and joint pain, headache.

Composition
1 hard capsule contains: | 50 mg of active substance ketoprofen |
other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica. Capsule: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171), patent blue (E 131). |
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is intended for oral administration. It should be taken for the shortest possible period of time and in the lowest effective dose to reduce the risk of side effects. Recommended dose: adults and adolescents over 15 years of age – 1 capsule 3 times a day (every 8 hours).
Capsules should be taken with meals, with at least half a glass of water or milk. You can also take antacids, which will reduce the risk of harmful effects of the drug on the gastrointestinal tract. Do not use the drug for longer than 5 days without consulting a doctor. If symptoms worsen or do not subside after 5 days, contact your doctor.
Caution is necessary in the elderly due to the increased risk of severe adverse reactions. If it is necessary to take NSAIDs, the lowest effective dose should be used.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
This medicine should not be used in persons under 15 years of age.
Contraindications
Do not take Ketonal Active:
- if you are allergic to ketoprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
- if you have previously had shortness of breath, an asthma attack, swelling of the nasal mucosa or a skin reaction (symptoms include skin swelling or itchy rash) or any other type of allergic reaction after taking ketoprofen or similarly acting medicines (such as acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so-called NSAIDs),
- if you have: severe heart failure, severe renal failure, severe hepatic failure, bleeding tendency, active gastric and/or duodenal ulcer or have had gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation in the past,
- if you are in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Notes on use
Ketonal Active contains lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, you should contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.

Ketonal Active is a blue-white opaque capsule containing a yellowish-white powder in loose or caked form.
They are packed in amber glass jars with LDPE stoppers, in a cardboard box. The package contains 20 capsules.
