Inuprin Forte 1000 mg is an over-the-counter drug used in people with weakened immune systems, in the case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections , and in the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus .
Contains inosine pranobex – an active substance with double action, which has antiviral effects, combating the cause of upper respiratory tract infections, and stimulates the functions of the immune system, contributing to increased body resistance. It also inhibits the multiplication of pathogenic viruses from the Herpes group.
Indications
- Supportively in people with reduced immunity, in case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
- In the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus – Inuprin Forte can only be used in patients who have previously been diagnosed with a herpes simplex infection.
Composition
1 tablet of the drug contains:
- active substance: 1000 mg inosine pranobex (a complex containing inosine and 2-hydroxypropyldimethylammonium 4-acetamidobenzoate in a molar ratio of 1:3),
- additional substances: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, polyvinylpyrrolidone K90, magnesium stearate.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- The recommended dose is based on the patient’s body weight. The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses administered several times a day.
- The medicine should be taken orally. The tablet should be taken with an appropriate amount of fluid, preferably water.
- If you have difficulty swallowing the whole tablet, you can crush the tablets and dissolve them in a small amount of liquid to make it easier to take the medication.
Adults, including the elderly (over 65 years of age):
- The recommended daily dose is 50 mg/kg body weight per day, usually the daily dose is 3 tablets (3 g) per day (i.e. 1 tablet 3 times a day).
- The maximum daily dose is 4 tablets (4 g) per day (i.e. 1 tablet 4 times a day).
Children over 1 year of age:
- The recommended dose is 50 mg/kg body weight per day, administered in several divided doses.
Contraindications
- Allergy to the active substance (inosine pranobex) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include: skin rash, itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue.
- Current attack of gout (manifested by severe joint pain with swelling and redness of the skin or effusion in large joints) or increased blood uric acid levels shown in current study tests.
- This medicine should not be used in children under 1 year of age.
