Groprinosin is an antiviral drug that increases the body’s immunity (stimulates the activity of the immune system).
Groprinosin contains an active substance – inosine pranobex, which inhibits the in vitro multiplication of human pathogenic Herpes viruses.
Indications
Supportively in people with reduced immunity, in case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
For the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Groprinosin can only be used in patients who have previously been diagnosed with herpes simplex virus infection. If after 5 to 14 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, talk to your doctor.
Active substance: Inosinum pranobexum
Composition
One tablet contains 500 mg of inosine pranobex (Inosinumpranobexum), a complex containing inosine and 2-hydroxypropyldimethylammonium 4-acetamidobenzoate in a molar ratio of 1:3.
How to use
Oral administration. To facilitate the administration of the drug, the tablets may be crushed and dissolved in a small amount of liquid.
Dosage
The dose is determined based on the patient’s body weight and depends on the severity of the disease. The daily dose should be divided into equal single doses administered several times a day. The duration of treatment is usually 5 to 14 days. After the symptoms have subsided, the drug should be continued for another 1 to 2 days.
Adults, including the elderly
50 mg/kg body weight per day, i.e. 6 to 8 tablets (usually 1 g, i.e. 2 tablets, given 3 to 4 times daily). The maximum dose is 4 g per day.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Children over 1 year of age: 50 mg/kg body weight per day, given in several divided doses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.
Inosine pranobex should not be used in patients who are currently experiencing a gout attack or have increased levels of uric acid in the blood.
Contents:
Oval, white to cream, biconvex tablets, with a score line on one side. The score line on the tablet only facilitates its crushing for easier swallowing, not division into equal doses. Groprinosin is packed in blisters made of Aluminum/PVC/PE/PVDC foil placed in a cardboard box. The box contains 50 tablets and a patient leaflet.
