Gardimax medica spray, a mint-flavored oral aerosol is a non-prescription drug for symptomatic use to relieve pain associated with inflammation or irritation in the course of inflammation of the mouth and throat. It is intended for children from 30 months of age (2.5 years) and adults. Gardimax medica spray contains lidocaine hydrochloride with a local anesthetic effect and chlorhexidine digluconate solution with an antibacterial effect and levomenthol.
Gardimax medica spray does not contain sugar and can be used by diabetics.
Indications
A drug for symptomatic use to relieve pain associated with inflammation or irritation in the course of inflammatory conditions of the mouth and throat.
Active substance: Chlorhexidine digluconas , Lidocaine
Composition
Active substances of the drug are: chlorhexidine digluconate solution 20 mg/10 ml, lidocaine hydrochloride 5 mg/10 ml. 1 dose of spray contains 0.180 mg of chlorhexidine digluconate solution and 0.045 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride. Other ingredients are: ethanol 96%, glycerol, levomenthol, cineole, sodium saccharin, citric acid monohydrate, purified water.
Dosage
Always use Gardimax medica spray exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Drug for short-term symptomatic use : 3 to 4 days. If there is no improvement after this period or if new ailments and/or general symptoms, e.g. fever, appear during use, the patient should contact a doctor.
Recommended daily dose:
Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: 3 to 5 doses at once, 6 to 10 times a day.
Children over 2.5 years of age (30 months): 2 to 3 doses at a time, 3 to 5 times a day.
Route of drug administration: On the oral mucosa, pharyngeal.
Instructions for use of Gardimax medica spray with a dosing pump with a foldable dosing tip: point the dosing tip towards the throat and press the pump. It is advisable to clean the dosing tip daily according to the instructions described in the leaflet.
If you take more than the recommended dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Overdose symptoms : anxiety, tinnitus, nystagmus, respiratory failure, hypotension, slow heart rate, cardiac arrest, heart rhythm disturbances, difficulty swallowing, yawning, nervousness, muscle tremors, convulsions, depression.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
- Children from 30 months of age: 2 to 3 doses at a time, 3 to 5 times a day.
- Drug for short-term symptomatic use: 3 to 4 days.
Contraindications
Gardimax medica spray should not be used:
- if the patient is allergic to the active substances (chlorhexidine digluconate solution or lidocaine hydrochloride) or other local anesthetics from the amide group or any of the other ingredients of the drug,
- Due to the presence of menthol, caution should be exercised when using in children if symptoms preceding seizures occur,
- children under 30 months of age (2.5 years).
Notes on use
- This medicine contains alcohol (42.5% ethanol by volume), i.e. up to 168 mg in 5 doses, which is equivalent to 0.85 ml of beer or 0.35 ml of wine per dose. This is harmful for people addicted to alcohol. This should also be taken into account in pregnant or breast-feeding women, children and patients in high-risk groups such as people with liver disease or epilepsy.
- Gardimax medica does not contain sugar and can be used by diabetics.
