The painkiller Excedrin MigraStop contains three active substances: acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol and caffeine.
- Acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol reduce pain and fever, and acetylsalicylic acid also has an anti-inflammatory effect.
- Caffeine is a mild stimulant and enhances the effects of acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol.
Excedrin MigraStop is used:
- in the immediate treatment of headache
- for migraine (with symptoms such as headache, nausea, hypersensitivity to light and sound, and disturbances in everyday functioning) with or without aura.
Indications
Emergency treatment of headache and migraine attacks with or without aura.

Dosage
Excedrin MigraStop should be used according to the information in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults (over 18 years):
Headache treatment
If a headache occurs, take 1 tablet with a full glass of water. If necessary, another tablet can be taken 4-6 hours after taking the first one.
In the case of a more intense headache, 2 tablets can be taken at once, if necessary, another 2 tablets can be taken 4-6 hours after taking the first two tablets.
Do not use Excedrin MigraStop for headache for longer than 4 days without consulting a doctor.
Migraine treatment
In case of migraine symptoms or migraine aura, take 2 tablets of the drug with a glass of water. If necessary, you can take another 2 tablets, maintaining a 4-6 hour break between doses.
Do not use Excedrin MigraStop for more than 3 days in migraine without consulting a doctor.
For both headache and migraine, do not use more than 6 tablets in a 24-hour period. This corresponds to a dose of 1500 mg of acetylsalicylic acid, 1500 mg of paracetamol and 390 mg of caffeine.
Long-term use of the drug without medical supervision may be harmful to your health.
Children and adolescents:
Excedrin MigraStop should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age (see section Warnings and precautions)
Elderly
There are no special recommendations for dosage in the elderly. In case of low body weight in this group of patients, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Patients with kidney and liver problems:
Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Your doctor may recommend other than the recommended dosing intervals or a different duration of treatment with Excedrin MigraStop.
Excedrin MigraStop should not be used in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment.
Taking more Excedrin MigraStop than recommended
The medicine contains acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol. While taking Excedrin MigraStop, do not take more than the recommended dose of the medicine and do not take other medicines containing any of its ingredients or other medicines used to treat pain, inflammation or fever (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
If you take too much Excedrin MigraStop, contact your doctor, pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital. Immediate medical attention is necessary due to the risk of irreversible liver damage from paracetamol. Do not wait for the symptoms of an overdose to appear, as they may not be noticeable at first.
Contraindications
Do not use Excedrin MigraStop:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, caffeine or any of the ingredients of Excedrin MigraStop film-coated tablets listed in section 6. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include: asthma, shortness of breath or shortness of breath; rash or hives; swelling of the face or tongue; runny nose. If in any doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- if you have ever had allergic reactions to other pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory or antipyretic medicines such as diclofenac or ibuprofen.
- in patients with stomach or intestinal ulcers, or if you have had gastrointestinal ulcers in the past.
- if there is blood in the stools or black stools (signs of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation).
- in case of haemophilia or other blood diseases
- in severe heart, liver or kidney diseases
- when taking more than 15 mg of methotrexate per week.
- in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Notes on use
Taking Excedrin MigraStop with food and drink
Alcohol:
Ask your doctor if you can take Excedrin MigraStop or other pain relievers/antipyretics when drinking 3 or more alcoholic beverages per day. Paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid can cause liver damage and stomach bleeding.
Caffeine:
The caffeine content in the recommended dose of the drug is equivalent to the content of about one cup of coffee. While taking the drug, limit the intake of medicines, food or drinks containing caffeine, because too much of it can cause nervousness, irritability, insomnia and in some cases also an increase in heart rate.
Contents: Excedrin MigraStop is a white, oblong film-coated tablet with the letter “E” embossed on one side. The tablets are packed in blisters and then in boxes containing 10, 16, 20 or 32 tablets. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
