Azelastin COMOD, 0.5 mg/ml, drops, 10 ml

Azelastin COMOD contains azelastine, which reduces the effects of substances such as histamine , which are produced by the body during an allergic reaction . Azelastine has been shown to reduce inflammation in the eyes.

Azelastin COMOD can be used to treat and prevent eye problems caused by hay fever (allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 4 years and over.
Azelastin COMOD can also be used to treat eye problems caused by allergies to substances such as house dust mites or animal fur (perennial conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 12 years and over.

The active substance of the drug is azelastine hydrochloride at a concentration of 0.05% (0.50 mg/ml).
One drop of the drug with a volume of approximately 30 µl contains 0.015 mg of azelastine hydrochloride.

The other ingredients are: disodium edetate, hypromellose, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide solution (for pH adjustment) and water for injections.

Wash your hands.
Using a clean disposable tissue, gently dry the edge of the lower eyelid.

1. Before each use, remove the cap from the dispenser. Before using Azelastin COMOD for the first time, hold the bottle with the dropper vertically downwards and press the bottom of the bottle several times until the first drop of solution appears. After doing this, the bottle is ready to apply drops.
2. Holding the bottle with the dropper down, rest your thumb on the top of the bottle and place your other fingers on the bottom of the bottle.
3. Rest the hand holding the Azelastin COMOD bottle on the other hand as shown in the picture.
4. Tilt your head back slightly, slowly pull your lower eyelid slightly with your hand and quickly and firmly press on the center of the bottom of the bottle. This starts the mechanism of administering one drop of solution. Thanks to the special valve technology of the COMOD® system, the size of the drop and the speed of its administration will be the same every time, regardless of the force of pressure on the bottom. After administering the drops, slowly close your eyelids, allowing for the solution to be evenly distributed on the surface of the eyes.
5. Then release the eyelid. Then gently press the inner corner of the eye on the side of the nose (Fig. 5), blink a few times so that the medicine is evenly distributed over the surface of the eye.
6. After each use, immediately close the bottle carefully with the cap. Make sure that the dropper tip is dry.

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Remember: Azelastin COMOD should only be applied to the eyes.

Eye disorders caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis)

For adults and children aged 4 years and over, the usual dose is 1 drop in each eye in the morning and evening.

If exposure to an allergen is anticipated, a dose of Azelastin COMOD should be used prophylactically before leaving the home.

Allergic eye disorders (perennial/non-seasonal conjunctivitis)

For adults and children aged 12 years and over, the usual dose is one drop in each eye in the morning and evening.

For severe symptoms, your doctor may increase the dose to 1 drop in each eye, four times daily.
Ocular allergy symptoms should subside within 15-30 minutes.

If possible, use Azelastin COMOD regularly until symptoms disappear.
Do not use Azelastin COMOD for longer than 6 weeks.

When not to use Azelastin COMOD:

• if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of Azelastin-COMOD (see section 6 “What Azelastin-COMOD contains”).
