Amol – properties and use

Amol is a medicine containing a solution of menthol, a mixture of essential oils (citronella, clove, cinnamon, lemon, lavender and peppermint oil) and an alcoholic solution of ethanol. The action of Amol results from the action of individual active substances.

Amol is used both internally – for digestive problems (spasmodic effect), and externally – for rubbing the skin as a warming agent to improve well-being, e.g. in the course of a cold, headaches, muscle pain, or to reduce the symptoms of insect bites.

The drug is intended for traditional use in the above indications and its effectiveness is based solely on long-term use and experience.

When to use Amol?

Amol is traditionally used for the following indications:

outwardly:

  • to improve poor health, e.g. in the course of a cold, headaches, muscle pain;
  • to reduce the symptoms of insect bites;

internally:

  • for digestive (dyspeptic) complaints, e.g. flatulence and indigestion.

Active substance: Caryophylli aetheroleum , Cinnamomi cortex , Citronellae aetheroleum , Lavandulae aetheroleum , Limonis aetheroleum , Menthae piperitae folium , Mentholum

Amol composition

The active substances of Amol are: 1 g of Amol contains Mentholum (menthol) 17.23 mg; Citronellae aetheroleum (citronella oil) 1.00 mg; Caryophylli floris aetheroleum (cloves oil) 1.00 mg; Cinnamomi zeylanici corticis aetheroleum (cinnamon oil) 2.40 mg; Limonis aetheroleum (lemon oil) 5.70 mg; Menthae piperitae aetheroleum (peppermint oil) 2.40 mg; Lavandulae aetheroleum (lavender oil) 2.40 mg.

Other ingredients (excipients) are: ethanol 96% (v/v), water.

How to use and dose Amol?

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:

  • Externally for rubbing to improve poor health (e.g. during colds, headaches, muscle pain).
    Rub a small amount of the medicine in undiluted form several times a day.
  • Externally to reduce discomfort from insect bites.
    Wipe the bite area with a cotton pad soaked in undiluted medication.
  • Orally for digestive problems (dyspeptic).
    10 to 15 drops of the medicine with liquid or sugar should be taken as needed in case of symptoms, up to 3 times daily.

The medicine should not be applied under a dressing that impedes the access of air or in the form of compresses.

When should you not use Amol?

General contraindications to the use of Amol:

  • allergy to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of the drug,
  • bronchial asthma and other respiratory diseases accompanied by severe respiratory hypersensitivity.
  • children under 12 years of age, due to the lack of sufficient research on the use of Amol in this age group.

Do not use Amol internally:

  • in case of bile duct obstruction (e.g. in the course of gallstones), gallbladder inflammation;
  • in people with chronic liver disease;
  • in people addicted to alcohol.

Outwardly:

  • on damaged skin, e.g. burns, eczema and open wounds;
  • for skin diseases accompanied by rash;
  • on the mucous membranes and around the eyes.

Important before use

Warnings

  • After rubbing with Amol solution, wash your hands thoroughly.

Amol during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to the lack of safety data, it is not recommended to use Amol during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Driving

Due to the ethanol content, Amol may affect the central nervous system.
Therefore, it is not recommended to drive or operate machinery after oral administration of the drug.

The medicine Amol contains ethanol.

The drug Amol contains 67% ethanol (alcohol). When using the recommended dosage, after each oral intake of the drug in the amount of 10-15 drops, up to 0.46 g of ethanol will be introduced into the body, which is equivalent to 7.24-10.86 ml of beer (5% v/v) and 3.02-4.53 ml of wine (12% v/v). Harmful to people with alcoholism.
It should be taken into account when using in pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and in people from high-risk groups, such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
