What is pine syrup and how does it work?
Sirupus Pini Compositus is a syrup for dry cough . The medicine facilitates expectoration , has antitussive and antispasmodic effects.
When is pine syrup used?
Temporarily for dry, tiring cough associated with inflammations of the upper respiratory tract.
Active substance: Anisi tinctura , Codeini phosphas , Pini extractum

The syrup contains no more than 5% m/m ethanol.
The syrup in 1 dose (15 ml) contains 9.6 mg of codeine phosphate.
How to use
Oral administration.
How to use pine syrup?
- Adults (over 18 years of age): 15 ml 3 times a day.
- Adolescents aged 12 to 18 years: 5 to 10 ml of syrup 3 times a day.
- Children under 12 years of age: Do not use.
Adolescents over 12 years of age: The drug is not recommended for use in adolescents with respiratory disorders for the treatment of cough.
Always use this medicine exactly as described on the label or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not use for longer than 7 days without consulting your doctor.
Pine syrup for children
When should you not take pine syrup?
Hypersensitivity to the active and excipient substances of the drug.
Do not use in patients:
- with bronchial asthma or a tendency to bronchospasm;
- with acute respiratory failure (difficulty breathing, e.g. shortness of breath);
- using benzodiazepines and barbituric acid derivatives;
- addicted to opioid drugs;
- with chronic constipation;
- in pregnant or breastfeeding women;
- in which the metabolism of codeine to morphine is very rapid;
- children under 12 years of age.
