ACTI-trin contains three active substances : triprolidine, pseudoephedrine and dextromethorphan.
- Triprolidine in combination with pseudoephedrine inhibits the sneezing reflex, reduces nasal discharge and other cold symptoms.
- Pseudoephedrine also reduces swelling and congestion of the nasal mucosa, thereby increasing its patency.
- Dextromethorphan has an antitussive effect.
Indications
ACTI-trin is used for symptomatic treatment of upper respiratory tract inflammations (flu, colds and other upper respiratory tract infections) accompanied by cough, swelling of the nasal mucosa and watery nasal discharge.

Composition
Active substances | The active substances of the drug are tripolidine, pseudoephedrine and dextrometrophane.
5 ml of syrup contains: 1.25 mg of triprolidine hydrochloride, 30 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and 10 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide. |
Other ingredients | liquid maltitol, sodium benzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium saccharin, levomenthol, vanillin, “cola” flavouring (natural flavouring substances, triacetin, ethanol), quinoline yellow (E 104), cochineal red (E 120), brilliant black (E 151), ethanol 96% (v/v), purified water. |
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The drug is administered orally.
- Adults and children over 12 years of age: 10 ml of syrup 3 to 4 times a day, not more often than every 6 hours.
- Children from 7 to 12 years: 5 ml of syrup 3 to 4 times a day, not more often than every 6 hours.
The package includes a spoon or cup for administering the medication.

Contraindications
When not to use ACTI-trin
- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
- during treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (such as iproniazid, phenelzine, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine, clorgiline, selegiline, toloxatone, amiflamine, moclobemide, lazabemide) and for 2 weeks after discontinuation of MAO inhibitors;
- in bronchial asthma;
- in severe liver and kidney failure;
- in respiratory failure;
- in cough with large amounts of sputum and cough associated with bronchial asthma;
- in severe hypertension;
- in severe ischemic heart disease;
- in cystic fibrosis;
- in pregnant and breastfeeding women;
- in children under 7 years of age.
