Pirolam, medicated nail polish, 80 mg/g, 4 g

Pirolam nail polish is a medicinal nail polish. Pirolam is an antifungal drug for topical application to nails in the case of nail fungus . The active substance contained in  Pirolam – ciclopirox, penetrates the nail plate and has an antifungal effect on fungi causing nail fungus. Nail fungus occurs on the surface or under the nail plate. The nails become thickened, dull, discoloured (white, yellow or brown), thick and brittle, horny masses may accumulate under their free edge. The nail plate may delaminate, the nail may be destroyed.

Pirolam Varnish is intended for the treatment of mild and moderate forms of fungus, affecting less than 50% of the nail surface and a maximum of 4 out of 10 nails.

To prevent the development of nail fungus, you should:

• make sure that your hands and feet are always clean and dry (people with excessive foot sweating should use moisture-absorbing powders and change their socks and shoes frequently),
• dry the spaces between the toes thoroughly after each washing of the feet;
• use a separate towel (preferably disposable) and only use personal nail care accessories (disinfect them after each use or use disposable ones);
• cut your nails straight across;
• in case of athlete’s foot, always wear clean and dry socks (preferably cotton) and breathable shoes, and air your shoes after each use;
• only use shoes not worn by other people;
• do not walk barefoot in public places (e.g. swimming pools, saunas, sports centers);
• use pedicure services only in proven places where tools are properly disinfected;
• avoid cutting the skin when performing a self-pedicure;
• avoid any trauma to the nail plate.

Risk factors for nail fungus:

• age over 65;
• diabetes;
• a fungal infection occurring elsewhere, such as the skin;
• obesity;
• excessive sweating;
• circulatory disorders in the hands and feet;
• immune disorders.

Fungal nail infections. The product is intended for the treatment of mild to moderate fungal infections affecting less than 50% of the nail surface, up to 4 out of 10 nails.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
This medicine is intended for topical application to the nails.
This medicine can only be used by adults.
Before you start using Pirolam Lakier
Before you start treatment, you should obtain:

• alcohol-based disinfectant,
• cardboard disposable nail files,
• cosmetic nail polish remover.

It is recommended to remove as much of the diseased nail surface as possible using scissors, nail clippers or a nail file before starting treatment with Pirolam Lakier. After contact with diseased nails, the tools used should be disinfected and disposable ones should be thrown away.

How to use

1. Wash your feet or hands with soap and water and dry them thoroughly (preferably with a disposable towel).
2. Using a disposable file, gently file the top layer of the nail plate. Each time, remove as much of the diseased nail as possible.
3. Note! The file must be thrown away after use!
4.  Wipe the nail plate with a cotton pad soaked in an alcohol-based disinfectant.
5.  The varnish should be applied evenly with a brush to the affected nail plate and left to dry.

Do not apply cosmetic products (e.g. decorative nail polishes, nail conditioners) or artificial nails to the nail plate.
After use, the varnish should be tightly closed to prevent the solution from drying out.
Avoid spilling the varnish on the thread of the bottle neck so that the cap does not stick.

• If you are allergic to ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• This medicine should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
