Bitter orange oil 100% essential
10ml
Bitter orange oil is extracted from the outer peel of the bitter orange (Citrus aurantium var. amara), an evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia. Don’t confuse it with petitgrain and neroli, which also come from the same tree. Petitgrain is extracted from the leaves and twigs, while neroli comes from its fragrant white flowers.
Bitter orange oil gives off a delightfully sweet, refreshing citrus scent; it is broken by a solid, bitter note. When you inhale deeply, you can almost feel it on your tongue. The balance between sweetness and bitterness of this scent is so perfect that I can’t tear myself away from it.
This oil is incredibly uplifting. It is ideal for winter, especially in combination with cinnamon, nutmeg or clove oil, as well as lavender. Sprayed in an aromatherapy vaporizer, it puts you in a good mood. Bitter orange oil also improves intestinal peristalsis and regulates digestion. It is therefore worth performing massages with its addition around the abdomen, as well as the entire body. In combination with lavender oil, it has a calming effect and helps fight insomnia.

HOW TO USE
- Aromatherapy burner – citrus oils are not recommended for burners, as the heat depletes their aroma. In this case, it is better to use an essential oil diffuser, which cold-diffuses them together with water. However, if you have no other choice, use a burner, dripping 6-10 drops of oil into it.
- Cold inhalation – put 2-3 drops of oil on a handkerchief and take a deep breath from time to time, placing it on your nose.
- Bath – Add 5-15 drops of oil to a tub of hot water and mix well. Soak in the water for at least 20 minutes. Do not use detergents (it is best to take a shower before bathing with oils).
- Massage – add 15-30 drops of oil to 50 ml of carrier oil (e.g. apricot kernel oil) and mix. You can warm the oil up a bit.
